🌿 Heage WI – Monthly Meeting
📅 Tomorrow evening (Tuesday 10th March)
📍 Talk: The history of Brettles in Belper
We are looking forward to welcoming Gary Spendlove, who will be sharing the fascinating history of Brettles in Belper – it promises to be a really interesting evening.
🌱 The Potty Plotters have sent some loofah seeds to Tammy, so these will be available if you would like to have a go at growing your own, ready for judging by Elaine and Julia when they visit us later in the year.
🚑 A very big thank you to Sarah from Belper District CFR Group , who joined us last month for such a fun and informative evening. (Photos below 📷)
🧺 As always we will be collecting donations for the food bank, which are always very gratefully received. Many thanks to Margaret for kindly passing these on for us.

✨ Heage WI – Meeting Reminder ✨

Just a quick reminder that our monthly meeting is tomorrow evening (Tuesday 10th February) and we’re really pleased to be welcoming Sarah Henshaw from Amber Community First Responders 🚑.
Sarah will be telling us about the fantastic work they do in our community and the importance of CPR – really worthwhile and interesting.

As usual, we’ll be collecting for the food bank, so any donations you’re able to bring will be very gratefully received 💚
Also, a little request from Karen – her supplies of new birthday cards are running low. Thank you to Karen for always remembering our members’ birthdays – if you’re able to donate a card or two, it would be much appreciated 🎂💐

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow evening 😊

As 2025 draws to a close, we’ve been looking back on what a wonderful year it’s been for Heage WI 💚✨

From fundraising and volunteering in our community , to supporting important causes, enjoying outings , sharing skills and hearing from some truly interesting and inspiring speakers, it’s been a year full of learning, laughter and friendship 😊💐

We’ve loved welcoming guest speakers who have informed, entertained and sparked great conversations, alongside our regular meetings, events and social get-togethers.

A huge thank you to all our members, our hardworking committee, speakers and local organisations who have supported us throughout the year. Your time, commitment and enthusiasm make Heage WI what it is 💚
We’re already looking forward to another busy and enjoyable year ahead – new members are always very welcome 🌟

🎄 What a busy and festive week it’s been for Heage WI!🎄

We’ve enjoyed our Annual Christmas Meal at The Black Boy Inn, Heage, while our wonderful Gardening Team have been hard at work tidying the WI garden and putting up the Christmas lights. Members have decorated the WI Christmas tree for the Christmas Tree Festival at St Luke's Church Heage, and our brilliant bakers baked and served drinks at the Friends of Heage Community Lantern Parade.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped by gardening, baking, decorating and supporting these events — your time and effort are very much appreciated. 💚

Our final meeting of 2025 will be held this coming Tuesday 9th December, when we’ll be having a relaxed social evening and a quiz with Rosie as quizmaster. Please bring your own nibbles and drinks (sadly no alcohol!), and as always we will be collecting for the food bank.

We look forward to seeing you there ✨

Heage WI are pleased to be supporting Heage Neighbourhood Watch at this important community event on ending violence against women and girls. We’ll be there serving drinks and biscuits, and we’d love to see as many people as possible come along.

If you’re able to attend, please do join us — it’s such an important topic and one we wholeheartedly support as a WI. 💛

🌸 Heage WI Supporting Lauren’s Legacy 🌸

This evening, Heage WI were delighted to present a cheque for £600 to Lauren’s Legacy 💜

The funds were raised through our catering at The Old Goats Grumble, which is always one of the highlights of our year! 🐐✨
We were pleased to welcome members of the League Of Zeal MCC, Derbyshire, who accepted the cheque on behalf of Lauren’s Legacy.

The presentation was made by our joint presidents, Jo and Fiona.
A huge thank you to everyone involved and to the organisers of The Old Goats Grumble — we’re always looked after so well and are already looking forward to doing it all again next year! 🙌💐

🌟Heage WI November Meeting Reminder🌟

Ladies, just popping on with a little reminder that it’s our monthly meeting tomorrow evening! (Tuesday 11th November)

We’re looking forward to a lovely crafty evening together🎄 when we’ll be making decorations to adorn our WI Christmas tree for the Village Christmas Tree Festival at St Luke's Church held over the first weekend in December.

The evening will be led by our very own talented Lesley👏
If you have any wool you could bring along — preferably medium weight (DK, Worsted, or Aran) in Christmassy colours, that would be wonderful.

We’re also delighted to be welcoming special guests from Lauren’s Legacy who will be receiving a cheque donation from the proceeds of our catering at The Old Goats Grumble 💚

In addition, we’ll be collecting for the Food Bank as usual and if anyone has any unused birthday cards, our birthday monitor Karen would be very grateful as our supplies are running a little low. 🎂✉️

As always, new members are most welcome– we’d love to see you there! 💐

🌺 Remembrance at the Heage WI Garden🌺

We would like to thank our member Anne, part of the gardening team, for thoughtfully placing the poppies in the WI garden. These beautiful poppies were crocheted by some of our talented members, and together they make a touching display of remembrance. ❤️

Each poppy represents our gratitude and respect for those who gave their lives in service to our country. It’s always lovely to see our WI garden reflecting the spirit of the season, and especially meaningful at this time of year.

As we approach Remembrance Day, we pause to reflect, remember and give thanks.

We will remember them.🌹

Heage WI Harvest Supper🌾

Heage WI recently held our annual Harvest Supper, where members enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by our own members. The menu included vegetarian curry, sausage casserole and Spanish chicken– thank you to Helen and Jo for providing these – this was followed by a great selection of puddings. 🍛🍰, also thank you to Sarah for providing the lovely autumnal table decorations 🍂🍁🍂

It’s always a really nice social evening that everyone looks forward to each year. 😊

Our next meeting is on Tuesday 11th November, when we’ll be having a craft evening led by Lesley. We’ll be making decorations for the WI Christmas tree, which will be part of the Community Christmas Tree Festival at St Luke’s Church in December. 🎄✨

We’ve also recently welcomed a few new members, which has been lovely. If you’re interested in coming along, we’d be very happy to see you at our next meeting. 💚
