Creator and loving God,
We pray for all people, creatures, and the natural world suffering in this time of extreme heat and wildfires. We remember communities living with the devastation of fires, those who have lost homes or been displaced, and all who face fear, loss, and uncertainty.
We give thanks for the courage and dedication of firefighters, mountain rescue teams, emergency services, land managers, and volunteers who work in dangerous conditions to protect lives, homes, wildlife, and your creation. Keep them safe, strengthen them when they are weary, and grant them wisdom in all they do.
We are sorry for the ways we have contributed to the changing climate. Have mercy on us, and help us to be the people your earth needs us to be living with wisdom, care, and hope.
Bring healing to the land that has been scarred, comfort to those who grieve, and renewal to all creation.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Praying for Gods blessing on the new Bishop of Leeds Toby Howarth, which covers West Yorkshire, Barnsley and parts of Durham.

We have a new Bishop! We are delighted that Downing Street has announced this morning that the Rt Rev Dr Toby Howarth has been approved by the King as the nomination to be the second Bishop of Leeds. Bishop Toby has been Area Bishop of Bradford since 2014 and Acting Bishop of Leeds since the retirement of Rt Rev Nick Baines in November last year and we are so pleased that he will be continuing to lead the diocese forwards.

2 weeks on from the very sad passing of Ann Widdecombe we share some words from Wetherby Cllr Norma Harrington.

‘Britain has lost a committed, hardworking public servant of long standing. Her Christian faith informed her decisions and she stood by her convictions. She also showed a sense of fun...competing in Strictly when most women her age would be watching the programme.
