We recently expressed our concern that Hay-on-Wye Army Cadet Force are not meeting at present. Their unit has given our branch fantastic support with Remembrance events and the Poppy Appeal so we contacted Gwent & Powys ACF to get an update on the position.

Today, we received the following response:-

Good afternoon,

Due to the lack of Cadet Force Adult Volunteers the local Area Commander has decided to suspend activities at Hay on Wye Detachment until the Area Commander is able to recruit Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to be able to deliver the Cadet Experience – of which collectively we are looking to do.

You may be of assistance to us, your members are more than welcome to become members of the Army Cadet Force, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers come in many different guises, they are as follows:

· Uniformed Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (Instructors / Non Instructors)
· Non uniformed Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (Administration Support)

In order to open a Detachment, there must be a minimum of 2 x Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to conduct safe training with the Cadets, even having just 2 x Cadet Force Adult Volunteers is not enough staff to deal with sickness, holidays, etc, we need to have redundancy in being have staff available to deliver, whatever comes our way.

It would be appreciated if you canvass your membership to see if they would like to join us.

All applicants must apply via www.armycadets.com .

Your Sincerely

Derek

I know that the members gained a lot from being in the ACF and it is such a shame that the unit is currently struggling to recruit volunteers.
If you feel you could fill one of the positions mentioned, or know of anyone suitable, please contact http://www.armycadets.com/ directly.
