East Sussex Health Walks

East Sussex Health Walks Walking boosts physical and mental health. Our walks are easy, social, and help you start a regular habit. The routes are all fairly easy.

They last about an hour and are manageable for everyone. Join us for motivation, support, and fresh air. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Health Walks are free weekly one hour walks led by trained community volunteers. Anyone can join in, but they're especially good for people who want to start to build up their fitness with gentle, manageable exercise, and to encourage them to give walking a try. Tricky terrain, steep

hills and stiles are avoided where possible. Everything is checked and risk assessed and the Leaders will try to choose routes that are most suitable for the group. (Please be aware that rural footpaths or woodland routes can be slightly more uneven and could become muddy in winter.) Health Walks provide a pleasant way to improve health and well-being for those who are getting little or no exercise, recovering from illness or injury, or lacking in confidence. Having said that, the majority of walkers stay because they enjoy the social aspects of taking part and meeting new people! Walks take place Mondays to Saturdays and are offered across the county, please check the pinned post or the website.

Just delivered the last of the Eastbourne booklets to the Welcome Centre TIC and Eastbourne Library, pop along if you want to bag yourself a copy!
We're out of stock now, we have done second and third deliveries to many of the county's libraries and we hear they were flying off the shelf. We'll try to get some more funding for another print run one day, but for now...
So glad you've liked them, please do tag us in your walk photos when you're out and about, it will be lovely to know who is walking where!

Join us for a gentle stroll through the beautiful Motcombe Gardens and Gildredge Park this Thursday! We'll meet outside Motcombe Pool at 2pm, and enjoy the crisp autumn air, the turning leaves, and hopefully some sunshine ๐ŸŒž

๐ŸŒฟ Welcome to our newest Health Walk Leader Trainees! ๐ŸŒฟ

Last Friday, 19th September, we had the pleasure of training a fantastic group of new Health Walk Leaders during a morning session kindly hosted by St Michaelโ€™s Hospice, Hastings. ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you to everyone who took part! It was a positive session with lots of useful discussion and learning. Well done to all our new Health Walk Leader trainees โ€” we look forward to seeing you helping others enjoy the benefits of gentle, sociable walks.

A huge thank you to St Michaelโ€™s Hospice for their warm hospitality and support! ๐Ÿ‘ฃ

๐ŸŒž Battle Health Walk โ€“ Friday 19th ๐ŸŒž

As part of the High Weald Walking Festival, last Fridayโ€™s Battle Health Walk was a real success! The group enjoyed glorious weather while exploring the (alleged!) battlefields and the stunning grounds of Battle Abbey.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along โ€” and especially to our brilliant team of Health Walk Leaders, whose enthusiasm and support make these walks possible. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒŸ Special Guest at Seaford Walk! ๐ŸŒŸ
We were absolutely delighted to welcome Mayor Maggie Wearmouth to our Seaford Walk last Tuesday! It was a pleasure to have her join us. ๐Ÿ’š Thank you so much for coming, Maggie!
๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Come walk with us!
Join us every Tuesday at 10am, meeting at The Salts Cafรฉ. Everyoneโ€™s welcome โ€” itโ€™s a great way to get moving, meet new people, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. ๐ŸŒฟโ˜•๏ธ

On Tuesday 9th September, I joined a local Health Walk to learn about what they get up to. The free Tuesday morning walks start from the Salts Cafe and have different grades of length and difficulty.

There are trained community volunteers to ensure safety and well-being. No one gets left behind! ๐Ÿ™‚

They are friendly welcoming and informal. The exercise, company and fresh air were lovely: the perfect weather was an added extra that can't be guaranteed!
