Around the World in 80 Whales

Around the World in 80 Whales One man's quest to see as many species of whale, dolphin and porpoise from a standing start.

As a wildlife presenter on cruises and by motorbike on land, Stephen Marsh will also spend time with other conservationists and hopefully promote their projects.

Few moments in history have carried such quiet power 🥹! At Westminster Abbey, Sir David Attenborough stood before a hushed crowd to say goodbye to his dear friend, Dr. Jane Goodall — the woman who taught the world to see nature not as something to control, but as something to love. With tears in his voice, Attenborough spoke of Jane’s lifelong mission, her courage, her compassion, and her ability to connect humanity with the wild. As he placed an olive branch beside her casket, silence filled the grand cathedral not from grief alone, but from gratitude.
It wasn’t just a farewell. It was a passing of the torch from one voice of nature to another. ▶️ Watch Sir David Attenborough’s moving farewell to Jane Goodall — a moment that left the world in tears 👇👇

Such a wonderful person. So much more than a primatologist, Jane opened up the world to female scientists and devoted her life to conservation, practising what she preached and spreading her values across the world with a quiet love. She will be missed.

Great weekend at the Overland Event just outside Oxford. A great gathering of adventure bikers, with plenty to keep us happy, despite a few rainy moments!

Great weekend. Book for next year!

This trip is nearly over, but still more friends to see. Great spending time with Christopher Di Corrado in Squamish and then was lucky enough to spend a couple of days with Sam Manicom in Whistler. Such a great time catching up as he's always so busy when we meet at motorbike events in the UK.
Down to Vancouver today and out with friends Willie Aames and Winnie Hung before my flight back to the UK tomorrow. See y'all soon! 😃

On World Orca Day, here's a pic of yours truly with Dame Virginia McKenna, co-founder of the Born Free Foundation, and Doctor Ingrid Visser, co-founder of Global Orca Charity, Free Morgan Foundation and Orca Research Trust, among others. This was taken a while ago on the beach at WhaleFest in Brighton. BDMLR rescue boats were on hand for a mock rescue of this beached Orca model!

Around the World in 80 Whales! What’s it all about?

Stephen Marsh has always been fascinated by wildlife. In 2007, after 30 years in advertising, he switched to working for charities that study and rescue marine wildlife. As well as his knowledge and devotion to these incredible animals, he became known around the world for his passionate, engaging and informative talks.

'Around the World in 80 Whales!' is a personal project that Stephen launched himself into when he left gainful employment in 2018. This quest to see as many of the 90 known species of whales, dolphins and porpoises (as well as other creatures) from a standing start is giving him a focus when giving wildlife lectures on cruise ships on the high seas. When he can, he is riding overland by motorbike, another of his passions.

As the project develops, it will take him to some amazing and remote places, as not all of the species are easily accessible and some are incredibly rare. On the way he'll spend time with others who share his enthusiasm and passion for these enigmatic leviathans and study, rescue and protect them. He’s hoping to promote many of the smaller conservation projects around the world that usually don’t get airtime, as well as look into the massive problems facing creatures of the sea.
