This is a true reflection on why heart screening is so important.

Good luck today!!

Just touched base with Keilan, they have just reached the second peak, 7 hours in. One more peak to go!

Not the nicest weather but I'm sure you'll smash it!

Huge congratulations to Keilan, his dad, his brothers, and their mates for smashing their £1,000 fundraising target for Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Keilan was on of Tom's good friends who spent many hours playing various games online. We are very fortunate that Keilan has stayed in touch with us.

This Saturday, 6th June 2026, they are taking on the grueling Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in memory of Tom, Rhys Braddock, and Kurt Fernandez, who all sadly passed away from undiagnosed heart defects.

This is no easy feat, especially with the recent weather we've been having! Let’s all get behind them and wish them luck on the hike. If you are able to donate, please check out the link below every contribution makes a massive difference.

Good luck!!!

A recent picture of the CRY van this time in Harwich! At CRY we aim to offer as many cardiac screenings to anyone aged 14-35 as we can. These screenings are free of charge thanks to the families fundraising in memory of a loved one who has died from YSCD.

This evening marks the end of an era as Councillor Bill Davidson officially retires from his role as Chairman of Tendring District Council.

Bill has been an absolutely wonderful ambassador for the district, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service that truly inspires us.
We have so much to thank him for most notably, his incredible support in fundraising, which directly enabled us to host our recent heart screening day.
Because of his commitment, we were able to provide vital screenings for our community, a contribution that will have a lasting impact.

While Bill is stepping down from the Chair, we are pleased to know he will continue his important work as a councillor.

More importantly, we look forward to continuing the genuine friendship we’ve built along the way.

Bill and Tracy, thank you both for your unwavering support over the past year. We are deeply honored that you chose to support our charity, and we are so grateful to have you in our corner.

Congratulations on an outstanding tenure as Chairman, Bill!

What an incredible, busy, and emotional weekend we’ve just had hosting two days of heart screenings in loving memory of Tom ❤️

We are so proud to share that we screened 191 young people and raised a further £390 over the two days!

Here is a little look back at the weekend:

Saturday: Tendring All Stars ⚽
It was brilliant to see Charlie Mann, the chief organiser of last year’s big event, drop by to support us. Saturday was all about community and keeping Tom’s legacy alive.

Sunday: Dedicated to Cllr Bill Davidson 🎖️
Sunday’s session was held in honour of the Chairman of Tendring District Council , Cllr Bill Davidson. Bill chose us as one of his charities of the year, and it is thanks to his hard work and fundraising that we were able to put this screening day on. Bill, we can’t thank you enough for your support.

A huge thank you to the teams who joined us!
We were joined by several local football teams, as well as players from the Essex Rebels Basketball in Colchester. Seeing athletes take their heart health seriously is exactly why we do this.

A note on attendance... While the weekend was a success, we did unfortunately have a high number of "no-shows." Luckily, we were able to fill these spaces using our reserve list, but it’s a reminder of how vital these slots are. Every appointment is a potential life saved—please, if you book a slot in the future, make sure you use it!

Finally, a massive thank you to the clinical team from Cardiac Risk in the Young. You guys are absolute pros and work so hard. And to everyone who donated or helped out you are the reason we can keep doing this for our community.

"My son has a serious life-threatening heart condition...
This screening has literally saved my son's life today."

We often think "it won't happen to us," but stories like this remind us why we fight so hard to bring screening to
Harwich.
