🎄 Merry Christmas from all of us at SENkind 🎄

However today looks for you, busy or calm, traditional or completely your own. We hope it brings moments of comfort, kindness, and joy.

We’re so thankful for our wonderful community and excited for all that’s ahead as we continue to support, celebrate, and grow together.

🌟 We are absolutely honoured! 🌟

On Saturday night, SENkind was awarded Highly Commended for the Mumblers’ Favourite SEND Individual, Class, Activity or Attraction!

But little did we know, it didn't stop there...

We are incredible proud and honoured to share that we were awarded the Harrogate Mumbler Community Award 🌟

For anyone who doesn’t know, this award recognises a person or organisation who has made a truly positive impact on the local community. No one knows if they’ve been nominated, everything is kept completely secret, and the winner is chosen by a panel of judges… which meant we went into the evening with zero idea that our name was even in the mix.

So, when SENkind was announced, it hit us all at once. We were emotional, shaky, completely shocked, just trying to take in what was happening. We honestly couldn’t believe it.

We are so proud to receive this award. It means the world to know that the support we try to offer genuinely makes a difference to families.

But SENkind wouldn’t be anything without every member of its community. Every parent who shows up, shares honestly, supports others, and helps create the kind of space we all needed, every conversation and every moment of support.

SENkind isn’t just us, it’s all of you as well.

So although our name is on the award, it truly belongs to the whole community.

A huge thank you to everyone who nominated us. We are truly humbled by your kindness and belief in what we do.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to the team for all your hard work in organising the awards and for recognising the efforts happening in our community. Sally and Kayti, you are rockstars!

Thank you for being part of SENkind. We’re emotional, grateful, and still a bit stunned - in the best possible way 🥹❤️

Lots of love,
Emily and Ashlie

💙 Let’s talk ADHD 💙

This month we’re sharing information and support for parents and carers who want to understand more about ADHD.

Today’s post is a gentle introduction into what ADHD is and how the assessment process works. Whether you’re just starting to explore it, supporting your child, or simply want to learn more – you’re not alone. 💛

🌟 October is ADHD Awareness Month 🌟

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental differences in children but it’s also one of the most misunderstood.

ADHD doesn’t just mean “can’t sit still” or “not paying attention.”

For children, it can look like:
💛 Big emotions that feel overwhelming
💛 Struggling to concentrate in busy environments
💛 Needing movement and sensory input to regulate
💛 Finding organisation and transitions really tricky
💛 Incredible bursts of creativity, curiosity, and energy

Every child with ADHD is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and ways of experiencing the world.

This month, let’s raise awareness, share understanding, and celebrate the children who think and learn differently.

With support, patience, and acceptance, children with ADHD can truly thrive. 🌈
