Community Fit - Harrogate Our mission: Improving community health and well-being by helping out while being active. Community Fit is local activity group.

We are a team of local people who meet to be social and active while giving time to Harrogate’s people and spaces. We connect activity and community through our weekly Team Tasks - group sessions during which we run or walk together from our base on East Parade in Harrogate to a local community group or charity. Once there we help out with a specific physical task for around an hour. This could be

anything from sorting donations to moving furniture, painting, tree planting or litter picking. Currently we meet on a Wednesday between 5:45 and 8:00pm. You can register to be a part of our community by filling in our joining form at www.hadca.org.uk/communityfit

🥳We like to celebrate our fabulous volunteers every week at Community Fit but gives us a great opportunity to catch up on sharing a few milestones they've achieved recently.

🪮One Team Task equals approximately 1 hour of practical help given to a local charity, school, church, community group or space, 1 hour of activity walking or running there and back, and two hours of fun, chat and social connection!

📣 It's that time of year again!

📆 Join us on Friday 26th June for our Community Fit Fantastic Fundraising Quiz!

✈️ Following on from the sell out success of last year's event we are thrilled to be back at the Bilton Club - Harrogate with the brilliant Quizmaster Munro for another evening packed with fun and friendly competition - and quite possibly a few paper aeroplanes!

🥳 Teams of up to 6 people. Don't have a full team? No problem - let us know when you book and we'll match you up with others.

🎟️ Tickets - £15 per person to include posh nibbles and entry into a free draw to win a £20 bar voucher for your table.

📣It's time for a round up of our April adventures!

📆 With 5 Wednesdays in the month, some gorgeous weather, and lots of enthusiastic volunteers we've been able to help out at Harrogate Skills 4 Living Centre, Trinity Methodist Church, Harrogate, New Park Primary Academy, St Mark's, Harrogate, Harrogate Spa Tennis Centre and Oatlands Community Centre!!

🥪We've weeded, planted, painted, made sandwiches, assembled whiteboards, moved furniture and much more! We moved nearly 200 miles together on the way to and from our partners and given nearly 70 hours of help altogether. Oh and we made time to enjoy the cherry blossom too! 🌸

🧡 A couple of weeks ago now but we love the variety of jobs we get to help with at the Harrogate Primary Schools we partner with - weeding, sweeping, painting, creating displays or assembling equipment - there is usually something to suit everyone!

🧡 As well as schools we can lend a hand to local charities, community groups and environmental projects - get in touch with us on [email protected] if you need some extra pairs of hands for ad hoc tasks!

Our other task last night was the second of two visits we've made to Harrogate Skills 4 Living Centre's residential home in Starbeck this month. We've loved helping tackle this space to help get it ready for the residents to use again this summer and we were delighted to be joined last night by two honorary FitStars (three if you count the gorgeous dog too!)

WOW what a MARCH we've had!

🧹As well as pulling pints at the Harrogate Beer Festival our fabulous FitStars have painted walls, assembled desks, emptied cupboards, swept playgrounds, moved musical instruments, tidied books, cleaned kitchens, wiped down toys, put topsoil in raised beds, sharpened pencils, and much much more!

🧡 In March we've helped out at Oatlands Community Centre, Coppice Valley Primary School and New Park Primary Academy as well as an spending an evening litterpicking around the Oatlands area for the

🏃‍♀️ We've moved 183 miles together and given 140 hours of help to our partner charities and schools.

There may also have been a bit of silliness 😉

We are absolutely delighted to have received an Awards for All grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to keep our Community Fit project going throughout 2026 🎉

Community Fit brings people together every week to get active, support local causes and make a real difference across Harrogate.

We know our charity partners will be thrilled that we can continue offering hands-on support, with our enthusiastic volunteers giving their time each Wednesday evening to tackle practical tasks for charities, schools, churches and community groups. Along the way, they’re not only helping others but also building friendships and boosting their own health and wellbeing.

A huge thank you to players for making this possible – your support is helping us continue to bring people together, strengthen our communities and create positive change.

One of our favourite dates of the year... it's the Harrogate Beer Festival with our friends at Harrogate Round Table and we're turning it orange! 🧡

It's our fourth year pulling pints and selling raffle tickets at this great community event!

We're here all afternoon and evening so come down to the Crown Hotel, grab your tickets and share a pint or two with us! Bottoms up! 🍻
