Leverburgh Playpark Update
Success for £30,000 fundraising campaign

The newly formed Leverburgh Playpark Committee is delighted to announce that they have reached their fundraising target of £30,000 allowing works to commence imminently on the new park.

Due to extra funds being identified by CNES, the authority will now cover the cost of the purchase and installation of both Phase One and Two. This will allow the £30,000 raised locally, through generous donations from individuals and businesses, to be used to facilitate a 3rd Phase. These works will include the refurbishment of pre-existing play equipment, ground works, a new perimeter fence and a comprehensive maintenance schedule to ensure the new equipment is looked after for the years to come.

The Playpark Committee would like to express their thanks to all who donated to the fundraising appeal. No matter the size of donation, every penny has contributed has ensured that a new playpark for the children of South Harris will now become a reality. To have raised £30,000 in such a short space of time, in what is a difficult climate for all, is nothing short of incredible and is testament to the generosity of the businesses and individuals involved.

Once a timescale is received for the commencement of works, this will be shared via the Leverburgh Playpark page and the De tha Dol?.

***Just £5865 left to raise***

How lucky are we to live in such an incredible community?! Yesterday’s fundraiser at Café 34 - Leverburgh, South Harris raised the fantastic sum of £1540!

Thanks to all the bakers, kitchen workers and servers. It was a huge team effort to make it all happen and the sum raised brings us closer than ever to the £30k target 👏

Thank you to everyone who came along to yesterday’s fundraiser cafè. The incredible sum of £1540 was raised for the Leverburgh Playpark Appeal.

Special mention and thanks to all our volunteers who baked and worked on the day, including our guest waiters/waitresses from LMS - we’re looking forward to seeing them on the rota in the future!

Proof that miracles really do happen!

Last night we launched our fundraising appeal to raise £30k for phase 2 of the Playpark.

Today, not even 24 hours later we are over HALF WAY! This total includes both online and offline donations.

Update & appeal launch

Volunteers who have been pushing forward with the plans for the replacement of Leverburgh Playpark are pleased to announce that Comhairle nan Eilean Siar have committed to begin works on the installation of new equipment. The works are going to be split into two phases.

Phase one, funded by the Scottish Government Playpark Renewal Fund includes the installation of a multi play set with climbing frames and slides, an inclusive roundabout and a gravity bowl – carefully chosen to be suitable for children from pre-school to late primary age, and inclusive for all. The approximate cost for phase one is £66k.

Phase two will include a wheelchair trampoline, log cabin and grass mats. To proceed with phase two, we need to raise £30,000. If the funds are raised within a matter of weeks, then both phases can be combined and will overseen by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.

For 3 years, the children of South Harris have been without a playpark. The numbers in the nursery have increased drastically in that time, and there are more children set to enrol. We truly believe that every child deserves to have a safe and stimulating place to play.

To everyone who donated baking for our stall and the people who volunteered their time to take a shift at the stall🧁

From the generosity of the community, £600 has been raised to go towards the refurbishment of the Playpark.
