Although we specialise in Honey Bees, we mustn’t forgot the solitary bees and our secret favourites bumblebee. Make sure you leave plenty of water out in this hot weather water covered in moss, stones, anything to stop the bees from drowning.

Meon Valley (MVBKA Taster Day) - 4th July 2026

Have you ever wanted to see inside a colony of bees? Perhaps you really like honey and want to find out more about where it comes from? Our annual Taster day is just for you!

Guided by members of our training team, with over 30 years combined beekeeping expereience, start off with a morning learning all about the biology of the honey bee, the history of the craft and how they are managed. We then move to our training apiary, set within the South Downs National Park.
After lunch (provided by us), we will open several of our hives, letting you experience the sights, smells and sounds of the hive. See how they carry out their intricate lives, foraging and looking after the nest.

This taster day is suitable for anyone interested in honey bees, insects or wanting to find out more about the natural world! All ages are welcome, with under 18s required to come with a grown-up.

For 2026, our Taster day will be held on the 4th July, and cost £85pp. Spaces will be limited so if interested, please reply to this email or visit our website to express your interest. We look forward to seeing you there.
