A message from the Parish Council:

We are writing to let you know that applications for the Council’s new Absorbent Hygiene Products (AHP) collection service went live today for collections to start from June 2026 onwards.

This free service is available to eligible kerbside households where nappies, continence or other absorbent hygiene products are used regularly and additional non‑recyclable waste capacity is needed. The service has been introduced to provide practical support to residents and to help manage waste more effectively.

Key points you may wish to share with residents:

The AHP service provides a separate, free collection of absorbent hygiene waste using council‑issued sacks.

AHP waste is collected two out of every three weeks: once in the week before the grey bin is collected, and again on grey bin week.

AHP sacks can also be placed inside the grey bin on the normal refuse collection day where there is space and the lid can fully close.

The service is optional and households can continue using their grey bin if they have sufficient capacity. The service has been designed to be discreet and dignity‑focused.

Residents must apply for the service; it is not provided automatically. The service is aimed at supporting households who generate higher levels of non‑recyclable waste due to care or medical needs, including families with young children and residents using continence products.

Full details, including eligibility criteria, accepted items and how to apply, are available on the Council website:

The latest version of Toppesfield Cricket Club was formed in 2013 with an opening match against the Old Southendians at the Playing Field. Over that last few seasons, the club have struggled to field a full side as existing players left the community.

Sadly, we are not alone with Finchingfield CC and Great Bardfield CC also struggling to put a full side together.

We believe that we will one day be able to field a full side but more likely to be an away fixture or joining other village sides.

The Club is determined to keep going and have had a slight change of name to reflect how we will be moving forward.

We will continue to run our Thursday evening nets for everyone at the Playing Field. We will confirm dates soon but likely to start in June.

We will also host an all welcome Crinders Match at the Playing Field in the summer, dates to follow in due course.

We are also delighted to welcome Ali and his team who organise the Annual Mudball Football Match between Christmas and the New Year to our fold and we will support this village tradition.

We have funds left in our account largely from members subs and we intend to use this on the events previously mentioned.

Additionally, Rob Sullivan has arranged a very entertaining evening in The Green Man this Saturday. You can find details on the poster above. It would be great to see you there.

Thank you
