🖤Today is Coercive Control Awareness Day. It is held on 13 October in memory of Lin Corlett.🖤
⚠️Coercive Control Is Abuse.⚠️
⚠️It mostly appears in intimate or familial relationships.
⚠️It is a pattern of behaviours that can happen at the same time.
⚠️It can come with threats and warnings.
⚠️It can appear as concern or protectiveness. It is not.
The aim is to control another person's life. What they wear. Where they go. Who they spend time with. What they spend their time and money on. What is acceptable to like.
Those experiencing coercive control may feel like
💔They no longer know what they like
💔They cannot make decisions or second guess themselves
💔They may lose interest in things that used to spark joy.
Do you experience such feelings? Does talking about them with your partner or those close to you make you feel worse about yourself?
🖤You may be experiencing coercive control.
It may seem like nothing. Because this is often what coercive control feels like.🖤
