🚧 Roads across our area need long-term investment 🚧
Our local MP has launched a petition calling on the Government to provide dedicated funding to rebuild and stabilise Cambridgeshire’s soil-affected roads.
Many roads across our area and the wider Fens are built on peat-based soil, which causes frequent cracking, subsidence and recurring potholes. This affects not only rural lanes but also key routes used every day by residents, businesses, agricultural vehicles and emergency services, including the A1123 Hillrow Causeway.
Haddenham Parish Council is sharing this to help raise awareness among residents. If you would like to support the campaign, please consider signing the petition using the link below.

Across Cambridgeshire and the Fens, roads built on peat-based soil are failing almost as fast as they can be fixed. Around 40% of the county’s road network sits on soil that expands and contracts with heat, cold, water and ice, causing cracking, subsidence and dangerous potholes.
