Residents are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure trees, hedges and other vegetation from their property do not encroach onto public pavements. Keeping footways clear helps everyone, including wheelchair users and those with pushchairs, to travel safely. Thank you for helping to keep our community accessible for all.

We are once again experiencing issues with dog fouling on both recreation fields. This is extremely unpleasant for the children, teams, and coaches using these facilities.

Dog owners are reminded that dogs must be kept on a lead and walked around the perimeter of the recreation fields only. Please ensure all dog waste is picked up and disposed of in the bins provided at both sites.

On Tuesday 28th April, Haddenham Parish Council, in partnership with East Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council, hosted a successful online safety event for local families.

Around 50 people attended, including Year 6 and 7 pupils with parents and carers. The session covered key topics such as online safety, phone and photo laws, the teenage brain, and where to get support, along with discussions on “sharenting” and app settings.

After the presentations, everyone enjoyed pizza together, and each young person received a book voucher for taking part.

Thank you to all who attended and helped make the evening a success. Special thanks to Lizzi Houghton (Cambridgeshire County Council), Harriet Sugg (East Cambridgeshire District Council), Robert Arkenstall Primary School and Mrs Wordsworth for hosting and supporting the event, and Topping Booksellers in Ely for supporting the provision of book vouchers.

🚧 Roads across our area need long-term investment 🚧

Our local MP has launched a petition calling on the Government to provide dedicated funding to rebuild and stabilise Cambridgeshire’s soil-affected roads.

Many roads across our area and the wider Fens are built on peat-based soil, which causes frequent cracking, subsidence and recurring potholes. This affects not only rural lanes but also key routes used every day by residents, businesses, agricultural vehicles and emergency services, including the A1123 Hillrow Causeway.

Haddenham Parish Council is sharing this to help raise awareness among residents. If you would like to support the campaign, please consider signing the petition using the link below.

Please share with others in the community who may also wish to support.

Across Cambridgeshire and the Fens, roads built on peat-based soil are failing almost as fast as they can be fixed. Around 40% of the county’s road network sits on soil that expands and contracts with heat, cold, water and ice, causing cracking, subsidence and dangerous potholes.
