Friends of the Hurtwood

Friends of the Hurtwood Friends of the Hurtwood is a charity managing public access to The Hurtwood. Friends of the Hurtwood manage the public access to an area known as 'The Hurtwod'.

The Friends of the Hurtwood secure the funding and support required to maintain this beautiful area for the benefit of the public. Comprising 3000 acres of woodland and heathland, making it the largest area of common land in Surrey.

Please note that the track from Holmbury Hill road up to the cricket pitch will be closed for resurfacing from week commencing the 9th February for three weeks. Horses and cyclists may need to find an alternative route, but access on foot should still be fine though. Thank you.

Please note, commencing 20th January-27th January, bridleway 179 that runs from The Aldermoor up the hill will be closed for repair work by Surrey rights of way team. There'll be a considerable amount of vehicle movements on the hill (marked in blue) and the bridleway (marked in red) Thank you 🙂
