Completely blown away by the generosity of our community 🌿

Look at all of these treasures!

Over the last 2 days every single item you can see in these photographs has been donated by members of our community.

The jars that might have gone into recycling.

The baskets that may have been tucked away in a cupboard.

Instead of being thrown away or forgotten, they have found a new purpose.
And that new purpose is so much bigger than the objects themselves.

These donated items will become vessels for creativity, curiosity, learning and connection. They will help people try new things, rediscover old skills, spend time in nature, create something with their hands, share conversations, make friendships and build confidence.

A jar becomes a terrarium.
A pine cone becomes part of a nature craft.
A plant cutting becomes something nurtured and grown.

A table full of donated objects becomes a space where people come together.

To me, it feels a little like a living ecosystem. Every element has a role. Nothing is wasted.

When we recycle, repurpose and reconnect with nature, we're not only helping the environment. We're creating opportunities for wellbeing, belonging, creativity and community.
So today I simply wanted to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has donated items, shared resources, passed things on, and supported Jen's Den Nature Retreat.
Your generosity is helping to create something really special.
The Wild Play table is overflowing with possibility, and every single piece of it began with the kindness of our community. 💚

🌿 Tiny Worlds, Big Connections 🌿

Today at Jen's Den Nature Retreat, we spent the morning creating miniature woodland worlds inside glass jars.

Using moss, ferns, stones, bark, seed pods and other natural treasures, each person created something completely unique.

There was no right or wrong way to do it, just curiosity, creativity and a chance to slow down for a while.

What I love most about these sessions isn't the finished terrariums (although they are absolutely beautiful!), it's the conversations, the laughter, the sharing of ideas and the moments when people become completely absorbed in what they're creating.

Nature has a wonderful way of helping us reconnect with ourselves and each other.
Sometimes all it takes is a handful of moss, a tiny fern and a little imagination.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today and brought their own magic to the space. I think you'll agree the finished creations are stunning. 💚

Today our community donated £45.00, shells, terracotta pots of different sizes, blankets, cushion, baskets, glass jars, spider plants, ivy., different flavoured tea

These donations will be carried forward onto the next session
Thankyou.🥰🙏🌿

🙏I was really honoured this week to receive an invitation to attend the People's Emergency Briefing at Parkway Cinema in Cleethorpes.

✌️Being recognised as a local community organisation and invited into these conversations means a great deal. Jen's Den may be small, but it was built on the belief that people, nature, and community are deeply connected.

👀Many of us can see the changes happening around us. Whether it's the loss of biodiversity, changes in our weather, pressures on our natural spaces, or the growing impact on our communities, these are conversations that affect all of us.

🌿One of the things I often talk about at Jen's Den is that we are not separate from nature. We are part of it. Every tree, every insect, every patch of moss, every pond, every person. Just like biodiversity, communities thrive when there is connection, care, and balance.

🪾Nature has an incredible ability to heal, adapt, and sustain itself, but it cannot do that if we continue to work against it. We all have a role to play as custodians of the spaces we share and the planet we call home.

👌If this is a subject that interests you, I'd encourage you to take a look at the People's Emergency Briefing event. It promises to be an informative evening and an opportunity to come together as a community to think about what , stewardship, and positive action might look like for our local area.

🙏Thank you to the organisers for the invitation. I'm looking forward to listening, learning, and being part of the conversation.

Last Sunday at 4am with All Things Good And Nice C.I.C

Yep, 4AM!

I have to say.... what an absolute delight and spectacle.

Just look at these pictures.

We had tea on the beach, an amazing insight into how space works, thanks to Bruce martin, a couple of poems from Jim, and 3 things to be grateful for prompted by Eve.

A kindered spirt in the form of a lovely human called Neil who also loves trees and i was home by 6.30 for a cheeky nap.

Thankyou for the invitation

Xx

🌿 Potter & Play at Jen’s Den 🌿

I’ve had a little thought...

As well as our Wednesday and Saturday Nature Retreat sessions, there are times when I’m already here pottering about in the garden, sorting plants, moss, bowls, bark and all the lovely bits in The Choosing Pantry.

So I’m thinking of opening up some gentle drop-in times.

Just a chance to pop in, have a cuppa, have a look around, sit for a while, or make something if you fancy it.

If you’d like to create something while you’re here, it would be donation-based. Even the price of a cuppa helps cover the materials and keeps the space ticking over.

You might want to make a succulent bowl, have a go at a terrarium, or just come and be around the space for a little bit.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, drop me a message and I’ll let you know when the garden is open.

🌿 Come and lay your troubles down
🌿 Potter, play, sit, create.
🌿 Donation-based if you choose to make something.

Mossing about with Mumsy Chrissie!!

Not the most exciting task on paper perhaps. But I adore and respect Moss so much!!
And my mum🤣

Just sitting quietly, sorting different types of moss, cleaning them up, caring for them, and creating little information cards so people can learn about them when they visit and explore the space here.

For me, this is one of those jobs that feel such a prevelidge!

There is something incredibly calming about handling moss.

The more I learn about moss, the more fascinating it becomes. What many people see as "just moss" is actually a whole world of different species, each with its own preferences, purpose and role within the wider ecosystem.

Some like damp woodland floors, some thrive on logs, some grow on rocks, and some create tiny habitats for countless microorganisms and invertebrates.

A patch of moss is often an ecosystem in its own right.

At the Nature Retreat, I love being able to share these little pieces of knowledge. Not because everyone needs to become a moss expert, but because when we learn to notice the smaller things, we often develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world around us.

Trees in my opinion are the guardians of our planet, but they do not stand alone. Moss, fungi, insects, microbes, plants, birds and animals all play their part.

Biodiversity is a team effort.

Today felt a bit like being a custodian of these tiny green worlds. An opportunity to care for them, learn from them and help others connect with them too.

that feels like a privilege too

Im hoping that passing tiny pieces of information onto folks will invite them to look think about how incredibly lucky we are to live alongside side such wonderful intelligence.

Thanks to my mum Christine Pitts for potting up the succulents and spider plants babies whilst I was mossing about!!

Love Jen.

🌿 Come and Give It a Go... 🌿

We're now taking bookings for our Terrarium Workshop on Saturday 20th June.

We've got the nature, the tools, the vessels, the plants, the moss, and everything in between.

All you need to bring is yourself... and a donation if you're able.

At Jen's Den Nature Retreat, we believe everyone deserves access to a wholesome, creative space where they can slow down, connect, and simply be. Some people are able to donate money. Some bring plants, baskets, shells, jars, or other treasures. Some come with nothing but themselves.

Every contribution matters.

Your donations help us keep creating these gentle spaces for our community and help make it possible for someone else to join us too.

No experience needed.
All materials provided.
Just come as you are.
