Morning everyone. Just a quick heads up for our Future Trainers Club families. 😊

One of our local game stores has had a restock of some of the most in demand Pokémon products this morning. Unfortunately, people have been queuing since the early hours, so apart from individual booster packs, there probably won’t be a great deal left by the time most families get there.

Sadly, a lot of today’s stock will end up being bought to resell at inflated prices.

Just as a reminder, these are roughly what you should expect to pay at retail.

Please don’t feel like you have to pay reseller prices to get products for your children. There are lots of reprints on the way, including more Prismatic products, and paying inflated prices only encourages more scalping and makes it even harder for families to buy at normal retail prices.

We’ll be at the Learn to Play session at Grim Dice this morning. It’s completely free to attend, with plenty of cards to play with and friendly trainers on hand to help new players learn.

You can register for a Pokémon Player ID online before you arrive, or simply drop in and we’ll help you get everything set up in store.

☀️ Summer Update from Future Trainers Club ☀️

After a lot of thought, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause Future Trainers Club sessions over the summer holidays.

We know this will disappoint some of our members and families, and it wasn’t a decision we took lightly. There are a few reasons why we’ve decided this is the right thing to do.

💙 Funding the club

Future Trainers Club has always been completely free to attend. We provide free activities, free Pokémon cards, free deck building materials, and we always try to make sure everyone has something to eat and something to take home.

Like many small community groups, running the club comes with costs. Alongside the fantastic support we receive from We Are F.I.S.H. and our volunteers, I personally cover a lot of those costs by selling parts of my own collection.

Over the summer I need to spend a bit of time rebuilding those funds so we can keep sessions free and continue doing everything we do when we return in September.

🃏 Restocking our resources

Over the next few weeks we’ll be collecting a very generous donation of Pokémon bulk.

That gives us chance to sort thousands of cards, refill our deck building boxes, create more beginner decks and put together lots more free gift packs and cards ready for our members.

📋 Behind the scenes

As we come towards the end of our first year as a CIC, there’s plenty of administration to catch up on. Accounts need preparing, paperwork needs filing and all the bits behind the scenes that keep the club running need some attention.

As many of you know, Future Trainers Club is run entirely by me, so the summer gives me a chance to get everything up to date before we’re back.

Our first session back will be on Tuesday 8 September.

We’ll be back in plenty of time to get everyone ready for Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary celebrations, and we’ve already got plenty of ideas planned for the months ahead! 🎉

Just because sessions are paused doesn’t mean the support stops.

🎲 If your family would like to borrow demo decks, board games or other club equipment over the holidays, just send us a message and we’ll arrange a time for collection.

Nobody should have to struggle alone. We’ll do everything we can, alongside trusted local partners, to make sure our children and families have access to food over the holidays.

🌳 Looking for something different?

The nearest National Trust Pokémon Summer of Play trail is at Belton House near Grantham.

There are Pokémon themed outdoor activities running throughout the summer holidays, with trail sheets available daily while stocks last.

🧱 Free LEGO Pokémon event

On Saturday 1 August, both Smyths Toys Superstores and The Entertainer in Grimsby are running free Pokémon LEGO Make and Take events. Children can build and take home a free LEGO Pokémon model while stocks last.

Thank you to every family that has supported Future Trainers Club over the last year. Whether you’ve donated cards, volunteered, shared a post or simply come along to a session, you’ve helped build something I’m so incredibly proud of!

Most of all, thank you to our amazing children. Watching your confidence grow, seeing new friendships form and watching you all enjoy the hobby together makes every hour worthwhile.

☀️ Future Trainers Club Update ☀️

Due to the high temperatures forecast for Tuesday 23rd June, we’ve made the decision to cancel tomorrow evening’s Future Trainers Club session.

The safety and wellbeing of our trainers, families, volunteers and staff always comes first, and we don’t feel it’s sensible to ask everyone to travel and spend time indoors during the hottest parts of the day.

Please take care, stay hydrated, keep cool, and look after yourselves and your families.

We’ll be back as normal on Tuesday 14th July and look forward to seeing everyone then.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for some gaming, trading or social play, our friends at Grim Dice Tabletop Gaming are hosting their free Learn to Play session on Sunday 28th June. It’s a great opportunity to learn new games, play some casual matches, meet other players and do a bit of trading.

If you’ve been coming to Future Trainers Club for a while, you’ll know we’ve always listened to what our children, young people and families want from the club. Recently, one thing has come up again and again…

“Can we try more games?” 👀

Well, ask and ye shall receive! 😄

We’re heading to the UK’s biggest tabletop gaming event to explore new games, discover fresh ideas and find even more ways to make gaming accessible, welcoming and fun for every child and family who walks through our doors.

What started as a small Pokémon club is growing into something much bigger. We’re working hard behind the scenes to create an inclusive community space where children and young people, especially those who are underserved, disadvantaged or have additional needs, can play, learn, build confidence and make friends through gaming.

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been tinkering away on. 👨‍🔧🎲

🎮 We’re back tonight at Future Trainers Club. 🎉

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has bared with me whilst I’ve been away training for my new job on the railway.🚆💙

We’ll be back at Sussex Pavilion tonight from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
