Today, we were incredibly honoured to welcome Stepping Stones Together, the Mayor’s Charity of the Year, to The Proper Project. 💙

Stepping Stones Together is a specialist ABA Saturday social club dedicated to supporting autistic children in developing social interaction, communication, and peer engagement skills within a structured, nurturing, and empowering environment. The work they do for children and families in our community is truly inspiring.

Our children spent the day learning about SEND, inclusion, kindness, and how we can better support children and young people in our community. They asked the wonderful founder and director, Hodman, so many thoughtful and inspiring questions, showing such maturity, empathy, and curiosity.

It was a truly powerful day of learning, connection, and community.

One of the most special moments was presenting a collection of paintings created by our children for the young people at Stepping Stones Together, small reminders that they are incredible, valued, seen, and deeply loved. 🎨✨

At The Proper Project, we believe in creating spaces where children not only learn academically, but grow into compassionate, inclusive, and community-minded young people.

A huge thank you to Hodman and the Stepping Stones Together team for visiting us and for the life-changing work you do every single day. We are so proud to have welcomed the Mayor’s Charity of the Year to our project. 🤍

Will you help make a difference?

We’re looking for former students to speak to young people at our upcoming Drayton Manor High School Youth Conference on Tuesday 14 July.

Whether you can give a full day, a couple of hours, or just join a panel conversation, we’ll work around your availability. We can also provide an official letter on headed paper for your employer to support a volunteering / social impact day request.

Sometimes all it takes is one conversation, one story, or one relatable role model to change how a young person sees their future.

To find out more or express your interest, follow the link in our bio ✨

Earlier this week we were invited into Drayton Manor High School for Children’s Mental Health Week to share what we do, why we do it, and how young people can benefit from, and take part in, our work 💛

Mental health and wellbeing sit at the heart of everything we do, so we loved creating space for students to tell us what they’d like to see change in Ealing and what they wish adults understood better about them.

From safer, better-lit spaces at night to stronger youth representation in politics, their ideas were thoughtful, honest and powerful.

It was extra special being back where many of our volunteers, and two of our staff, once attended. A real full-circle moment. .manor.high.school

We love having visitors come in to speak to our children and share their journeys, especially when they’re as cool as Magdi 👟 .dna

Can you believe he owns over 3,000 pairs of trainers? The room was full of wide eyes and big questions as he told us about his love for collecting, his time working with Nike, and how his passion turned into a career.

Research shows that children start forming ideas about what jobs are “for people like them” as early as age seven. That’s why moments like this matter, because the more careers and stories they’re exposed to, the bigger they can dream.

Ealing resident Magdi, whose daughter attends our Saturday Club, has had an incredible journey. He used to play basketball for England, went on to work with Nike, built a world-class trainer collection, and now runs The Exchange in Marylebone, a creative community space that brings people together through culture, conversation and events.

It was inspiring for our 5–12 year olds to hear his story and see how passion, sport and creativity can all shape a career. A huge thank you to Magdi for giving his time and showing our young people that there are so many different paths they can take.

Wishing you all a very Merry 6–7 Christmas ✨🎄

This week at The Proper Project, our little elves were very busy, armed with glitter, paint, pens and BIG hearts 💖

Our children created over 100 handmade Christmas cards, each one filled with love, kindness and thoughtful messages for the doctors, nurses, staff and patients at Ealing Hospital, especially for those spending Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day in hospital 🏥🎁

Today we delivered them… and honestly?
So many smiles.
So much joy.
A few happy tears.

Seeing how something as simple as a card can brighten someone’s day reminded us exactly what this season is about 🌟

We are so proud of our children for spreading kindness, and so grateful to Ealing Hospital for everything they do to look after our community, today and always ❤️

From all of us at The Proper Project, here’s to love, generosity, community… and a very merry 6–7 Christmas ✨
