Great Yarmouth & District No. 1426 Branch members employed by AW Crewing are on strike between 9th and 12th September.

Picket line 8-9am, 12-1pm, 5-6pm, Commercial Rd, Lowestoft from today through Friday 12th September

Workers are employed by the Guernsey and Isle of Man based AW Crewing – both areas which are tax havens - and include the captain and deckhands who facilitate scientists coming on board to do surveys of British waters.

Cefas Endeavour staff employed by AW Crewing have been offered a 6.5 per cent pay rise but this has been rejected as it still leaves some crew members earning less than their counterparts on other vessels.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: "It is utterly wrong that these workers with very specialist skills are being offered less money than their counterparts working for the same company.

"AW Crewing can afford to put its hands in its pockets and put forward a fair offer that brings our members at Lowestoft in line with their peers. Our members have Unite’s full support throughout their strike."
