Event Cancellation Notice

The event on Saturday 20th June for National Civic Day has been cancelled due to not enough volunteers to be able to operate and function alone.

However, future meetings will be still going ahead. Our future meetings include:

Monday 22 June at Old Priory, behind the Old Vicarage, at 7.30pm

Host: Brian Graves, Producer of G&S Productions.

“Rejuvenation and Regeneration”.
He will cover the first Celebrity Pantomime in Great Yarmouth for 30 years, the vision for a professional performing arts and music school and its social and economic impact.
Tickets for non members will be £2.

Friday 10 July in Gorleston Library at 2.30pm

Host: Simon Smith, Managing Director of Dunk Ink Ltd

“Presentation of latest Masterplan of the North Quay Development”

He will be talking about the latest masterplan for the massive redevelopment of the area. The multi-million-pound regeneration, led by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and supported by Levelling Up funding, will transform the 10-acre riverside site into a vibrant mixed-use quarter. The scheme will reconnect the town centre with the waterfront, create new public spaces and deliver long-term benefits for residents, visitors and local businesses.

Expected to attract up to two million visits per year, the scheme will also provide a welcome boost to tourism and local businesses. It is expected to create up to 500 jobs during the construction phase, up to 600 permanent positions in retail, leisure and hospitality in the development itself, and up to 400 further jobs in the surrounding area once open.

Our next meeting is Saturday 20th June for the National Civic Day! 🌳

The National Civic Day in the United Kingdom and more specifically Great Yarmouth is a national day of action that celebrates civic pride and encourages communities to take practical steps to improve their local areas. Promoted by the national charity Civic Voice, the day brings together volunteers, civic societies, and local residents to care for the places where they live.

We will be meeting in the Market Place infront of Lloyd's Bank at 10am to clean all the Street Furniture.

This will involve cleaning the litter bins, sign posts, bollards etc. If you are willing to help out and volunteer, please bring bucket, brushes and a cloth. If there is any litter we will deal with that and equipment will be provided.

Let us take pride in our town. 🎉🎊
