Next week, we'll be showing this important documentary about masculinity and men's mental health.

📽️Silent Men (12A)📽️
📆Tuesday 13th October at 6:30pm (Gorebridge Beacon)

At a time when debates about the "manosphere" and modern masculinity are dominating headlines, the film explores a quieter question: why do so many men struggle to talk about their feelings?

We will be joined by Duncan Cowles himself and special guests for what promises to be a meaningful and memorable screening.

✍️SCRIPTWRITING COURSE AT THE BEACON - STARTS SATURDAY!!✍️

Part of the Autumn Our Place creative programme, this is a scriptwriting workshop with a difference.

You'll learn how to create characters, find their voice, and write short pieces for performance - monologues, scenes and stories that can make people laugh, think, cringe or see a little bit of themselves.

You don’t need to be a writer. You don’t need a degree in anything. You don't even need a pen and paper - we'll provide everything.

And thanks to Inspiring Scotland, it's FREE!

We start this Saturday (3rd October) at 11am, and the course runs for 8 weeks, with the chance to perform your work (or see it performed) at our Christmas Cabarets in December!

🎥 Calling the budding filmmakers of Midlothian! 🎥

Fancy trying your hand at making a movie? As part of the Our Place creative programme, we have a new filmmaking workshop starting this Saturday!

Your tutor will be local professional videographer Alan Somerville, who will introduce you to pre-production methods, filming techniques and editing priciples, as you work on a 'mockumentary' to be premiered at the Beacon's Christmas Cabaret event in December! 🍿

Thanks to funding from Inspiring Scotland, the course is FREE, you don't need to bring or buy anything, and it runs for 8 weeks from this Saturday (3rd October), 1.30-3.30pm.
