Gorebridge! The nights are fair drawing in…are we ready to get creative again?

The next phase of the ‘Our Place’ programme begins in October, and we’re now ready for bookings!

This is our most ambitious schedule yet, and all classes will culminate with performances and exhibitions at our ‘Christmas Cabarets’ on the 4th and 5th December.

You can choose from:

• Film-making
• Poetic Drawing
• Samba Drumming
• Scriptwriting
• Spoken Word Poetry
• Stand-Up Comedy
• And our regular Makers Circle (Mondays) and Book Group (last Tuesday each month) continue

What you get:

• The opportunity to get creative, have fun and feel joy and pride - on your doorstep, and for FREE!
• Support and encouragement from our fantastic tutors as you develop your skills
• A sense of belonging - make new friends
• A chance to perform/exhibit your own creative work in a supportive environment

Most sessions will take place on Saturdays to allow the widest possible participation. And thanks to funding support from Inspiring Scotland's Creative Communities grant, all activities are FREE (we might have mentioned this already?!).

You don’t need any previous experience to sign up, and it’s all FREE! (Definitely mentioned this somewhere already.)

❄❄❄OK, so we’ve been mulling this over – is it too soon to put out our Christmas events? ❄❄❄

🤪Well, there’s only 116 days to go (!), and it’s payday time, so here goes!

We’ve got lots on this year:

🏪First up, the 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 on 28th November – we’ll have lots of local crafters and makers offering beautiful Christmas presents, plus the Gorebridge Community Choir will be singing some festive tunes!

🎄On the same day: get creative, have fun and make something really personal for your home when you join our popular 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗪𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽.

🎤Then, on the 4th/5th December, we’ve got our very first 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁! Featuring local performers from the ‘Our Place’ creative programme, we’ll have stand-up comedy, spoken word, drama…all that good stuff. And we’ll be running our bar! 🍺

💡Sunday 6th December sees The 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗢𝗻, featuring the 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀.

🧝‍♀️Your little ones will need to attend 𝗘𝗹𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 (11th December, 2pm and 5pm) if they want to become officially qualified elves…

🎅𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 (think pancakes, presents and yuletide fun) is on 13th and 20th December.

☕Finally, come along to our regular 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲 community get together on Christmas Eve.

Calling all local Makers/Crafters!

Even though it's only August, the Gorebridge Beacon's Winter Fair will soon be upon us...

It's happening on Saturday 28th November, and we are now taking bookings from local crafters, makers and creatives to display their homemade wares.
