THIS IS ALARMING.

Some Local Authorities and schools are starting to talk about the Schools White Paper as though it is already in force.

It isn’t.

➡️ The White Paper is a consultation document.
❌It is not law.
❌Nothing has changed legally for your child.

Right now:

☀️ EHCP legal duties are exactly the same
☀️ The Children and Families Act still stands
☀️ The SEND Code of Practice is still in force
☀️ Your child’s rights have not been removed

If anyone is suggesting support can be reduced, delayed or refused because of “the White Paper”, that is not lawful.

🚨Consultation does not equal implementation.🚨

We know this is noisy. We know it feels unsettling. That is exactly why now is the time to get informed, not intimidated.

☀️ Parents need to know their rights
☀️ Teachers need confidence in the law
☀️ Schools need clarity, not assumptions

Belated thank you to Laura Yvette Grace from SENse Consultancy- Empowering You for all your help and support during the appeal process for my young person. Long story short - many, many years of being unable to access school, 2 years on roll at secondary school that had always stated they couldn’t meet need, 4 hours of mentoring a week, years of fighting and failing - sometimes due to my inability to read things correctly and read the deadlines!!!
We were lucky enough to have Laura help us along the way, persevere with the LA and the working document - including LA staff changes, and then come to tribunal with us as it went all the way baby!
We are now a few weeks into our package of EOTAS, many more mentoring hours and access to other support. We might not have managed one single hour of it yet but we are working on it but the relief for my young person to finally be heard and free of anything associated with school (trauma caused by primary school, secondary school did all they could) is unmeasurable. Thank you very much to you all. Highly recommend, made me feel comfortable all the way through and supported over and beyond. I could nit have done it without you and that is a fact!
