Happy Birthday to our Group Lead Volunteer Kirsty Strachan (aka Skip). Kirsty is the glue that keeps the 91st Scout Group going; supporting every section, all the children, all the families, and all of the leadership team. Kirsty is multi-skilled to wonder woman level and we are grateful for everything she does.
Thank you, Kirsty. Hope you have a lovely day. πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰

The 91st Cubs have been flying high while working on their Air Activities Badge over the last few weeks; learning about aircraft, aerodynamics, the phonetic alphabet, and building their own model airplanes.
Special thanks to Jim, Chris, Andy, and Sharon, who looked after us during our visit to Edinburgh and Fife Aero Club and for sharing their knowledge and expertise with us. Cubs had a brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed learning about Captain Jim's adventures and having the opportunity to sit in a cockpit themselves. Congratulations to Kaiden who was invested during our visit too! Whiskey, Echo, Lima, Lima, Delta, Oscar, November, Echo Cubs πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘Œ

Yesterday we had our youngest volunteer, who came and helped promote Scouting by helping other young people to make campfire biscuits, follow tracking signs ans tie knots. Proving that not only arenyou never too young (or old) but that volunteering helps us grow in skills and confidence and we get a lot out of it.

Tonight's spotlight is on Cub Section

"I initially joined the group when my son was in Beavers (as he needed a bit of extra support), and I then moved with him when he progressed to Cubs. When he moved to Scouts, however, he didn’t need Mum anymore, so I decided to continue helping with Cubs. It turned out that we both enjoyed learning new skills and being part of the Scouting family. 😊 My involvement with Scouting has taken me to some lovely places, introduced me to activities I would never have thought of, and allowed me to meet a lot of amazing people. Where else can you try axe throwing or bat hunting, and have a chicken sit on your head. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ"

Some of out Volunteers are the worst camera dodgers and tonight's is one of the best, our Kaden. "As a Squirrels volunteer, working with our youngest Scouts and seeing them grow as they move through the group really gives me my own sense of achievement. It's so rewarding seeing them grow each week, learning new skills, being brave, learning to work together and having fun adventures. Seeing our Scouts accomplish something they didn't think they could do and witnessing the joy on their faces when they succeed is second to none. On top of that, I've gained new skills myself and been on adventures I wouldn't have if it weren't for volunteering with the 91st."

Today's Volunteer spotlight is on our newest volunteer, Fiona

"I’ve only been volunteering at Beaver Scouts a short time, but it’s already become something I genuinely look forward to. Helping little ones try new things, grow in confidence, and yes β€” sorting out the mountain of neckers β€” has been surprisingly meaningful. Even in these early weeks, the smiles, the small wins, and the brilliant team have made me feel like I’m part of something really special."

For Volunteers week we are spotlighting our wonderful Scout Leader team, starting with Paige who started as a Cub at the 91st

"I started volunteering at Scouts as scouting has been a big part of my family history across many generations. Scouting has helped me grow as an individual, making me become a more confident and content person. Because of scouting, I have developed countless amounts of skills that I use in my everyday life.
I have built some of my closest friendships through scouts, who I share some of my best memories with.
Scouting has made me the person who I am today."

Sections start back tonight. We have limited spaces for young people and adults wanting to join in fun and adventure.
