🩺👷GP Surgery👷🏼‍♀️👩‍⚕️

Like Brambles, the GP Surgery has also been a month of painting, fitting cupboards and plumbing. Flooring has been laid in several areas and the external groundworks have begun. The building remains on target for a November/December completion.

We eagerly await a date from the NHS for the District Valuers assessment, so that the the lease can be finalised without delay.

As always, our thanks go to 3b construction and Old Luce Community Fund, administered by Foundation Scotland.

🏗️👷🏼‍♀️Brambles Update👷🏗️

It's all about painting, kitchenettes and bathrooms this month at Brambles. The external rendering is in progress too, starting at the rear. All being well, the building work should be finished around this time next month.🤞🤞🤞

Thanks as always to ARPL Architects, McGowan Miller Partnership and Brian Carson Building Contractors and our funders Old Luce Community Fund, administered by Foundation Scotland, the Coastal Benefit Fund, administered by Dumfries and Galloway Council, and the National Lottery Community Fund's Scottish Land Fund and National Lottery players.

📢 Have Your Say on the Future of Old Luce!

Over the past 18 months, hundreds of people from across Old Luce Parish have shared their ideas about what they value most about where they live and what they'd like to see happen over the next 10 years. Together, those ideas have helped create the draft Old Luce Place Plan.

The Place Plan sets out practical actions under five themes:
✅ A stronger local economy
✅ Homes for all stages of life
✅ Facilities and events that bring people together
✅ Access to nature
✅ Better transport and access to services

The plan also highlights the importance of better access to information, stronger
collaboration, and an active, empowered community.

Before the plan can be finalised, we're asking local people to tell us what they think.

🚶‍♀️🚴 10 YEARS OF THE TRUST – LOCAL PATHS🚶🦮

🌿 As well as receiving and improving the gift of The Glen (Balkail Wood) in 2016, The Trust has also created / improved two walking and cycling routes in the Old Luce area to improve community connectivity, health and well being and enhance our natural environment for the enjoyment of all.

🍂🌊 Back Burn Path:
Work on the redevelopment and improvement to the Back burn commenced in April 2018 and was completed over several months. This included the installation of new footpaths and resurfacing, as well as new posts, handrails and a bridge all made in galvanised steel. Local residents and visitors have enjoyed the benefits of this revitalised, attractive, and safer route along the Back burn ever since.

🛤️🌞Dunragit-Glenluce Railway Link Path:
Working with the local landowners from 2018 onwards, a new public link footpath transforming and opening up a disused section of the railway line between Glenluce viaduct to Challoch junction on the way to Dunragit was completed and opened to the public . This surfaced all-weather path has since contributed to the health and well-being of residents by encouraging walking and cycling between the two villages on a non-trafficked, less polluted, safer route than the previous pedestrian route via the footpath on the side of the A75. The Railway Link path is very popular and much enjoyed by residents, visitors and their furry companions.

😀 Share a photo of your favourite local Old Luce path in the comments!
