Voices, Memories & Our Shared History

On Saturday 3 October 2026, North Lanarkshire Muslim Women & Family Alliance (NLMWA), in partnership with West Scotland Regional Equality Council (WSREC), North Lanarkshire Council and Historic Environment Scotland, hosted the opening and launch of the Traces of Empire exhibition at Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life.

The event brought together partners, community members and invited guests to explore the histories, experiences, identities and contributions of minority ethnic communities in Scotland.

🎀 LOOKING BACK WITH PRIDE

Breast Cancer Awareness — Engagement & Participation Session 7

Last year, on Saturday 25 October 2025, NLMWA brought women from different backgrounds together for an important Breast Cancer Awareness session at Airdrie & Coatbridge Islamic Centre.

The session created a welcoming space to learn, ask questions, share experiences and support one another. 💗

📚 INCREASED AWARENESS
Sharing important information about breast health, screening and early detection.

🤝 A SAFE SPACE FOR DISCUSSION
Creating an environment where women could talk openly, ask questions and support each other.

💗 EMPOWERING INFORMATION
Helping women build greater confidence through health knowledge and awareness.

🌱 STRONGER COMMUNITIES
Encouraging connection, reducing stigma and promoting early action.

Most importantly, the session reflected something we believe strongly at NLMWA: health education should be accessible to everyone, and communities are stronger when we learn and support one another.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, shared their experiences and helped make the session meaningful. 💕

Stronger women. Stronger communities.
