Oxjam We're Skint, They're Skinter started as an idea in January 2012 - a gig with 3 local bands and 1 local DJ raisi
ng money for Oxfam - crowd-sourced to provide what people wanted - the price, date, time, additional entertainment and even the event name were decided by the public. The results were interesting and people asked for face painting, art installations, performing art, live graffiti, comedy, interesting stalls and, of course, all sorts of music. They wanted a festival. Our 1st festival in 2012 took place over 3 venues in the West End of Glasgow on Saturday October 6th. 14 packed hours of entertainment raising a wonderful £1205.07! Our 2nd Festival for a Fiver in 2013 ran across 5 venues across Glasgow City Centre on Saturday 5th October. 15 crammed hours of entertainment raising a whooping £2205. And won us 'Gig Maker of the Year' 2013 judged by Festival Republic's MD Melvin Benn (Latitude, Reading/Leeds, Electric Picnic festivals)
