Thirteen miles into the London Marathon and you stop to bust out these moves!

Lloyd, we’ve never met you, but from this day on, your name is unforgettable.

Lloyd was one of ten Special Olympics Great Britain athletes taking part and absolutely owning the London Marathon yesterday.

If you have a moment and a few spare quid, we’re sure donating to Lloyd and his fellow stars would make a huge difference.

Congrats to Tim Malseed, a friend and former intern at Glasgow the Caring City, for being shortlisted as a finalist for a prestigious national marketing award.

Tim is one of six named in the Inspirational Agency Star of the Year category shortlist for this year’s Star Awards by The Marketing Society Scotland, a terrific achievement.

It all started for Tim here at Glasgow the Caring City back in 2010 when he volunteered as an intern with the charity before making his first step into PR agency life. Tim’s work was high quality even then and of huge benefit to the charity, the experience he gained with us helped him land his first full-time role and he hasn’t stopped progressing since.

We’ve all enjoyed seeing Tim thrive in the following years and share in the pride at this award nomination. Congratulations, Tim, and we wish you all the best for the awards evening in June.

Can you help....

We have a bit of an odd request for some help. Do you or anyone you know have a set of Heavy-Duty Twist Lock Swivel Caster Wheels we could borrow for a day?

We have a 20ft container to move inside our warehouse across a concrete floor.
A set of twistlock casters would make the job so much easier and quicker.

Get in touch if you can help.

Following on from our recent SoapAid shipment to Ukraine, we were proud to speak with That’s TV about this important milestone 💙

Last week, 12 tonnes of soap - 130,000 bars - left Glasgow, heading to families facing incredibly tough conditions. What might seem like a small everyday item can make a life-changing difference in a crisis, helping protect health, restore dignity, and offer a sense of normality.

This mission wouldn’t be possible without our incredible partners Soapworks Ltd and New Forest for Ukraine, whose ongoing support and dedication help make initiatives like this possible.

A huge thank you to everyone involved. 🌍

Can you help us cover the transport? If you would like to contribute to the financial costs of moving this soap toward the front line, please drop us a line at: 📧 [email protected]

Check out what Ross had to say ⬇️

🟦 🟨 130,000 UNITS OF HOPE FOR UKRAINE
Our SoapAid partnership is about more than just hygiene—it’s about dignity, resilience, and saving lives in the heart of a crisis.

Yesterday, we hit a massive milestone: 12 tonnes of SoapAid (130,000 units) were dispatched from Glasgow, destined for families in Ukraine.

Working in partnership with New Forest For Ukraine, this shipment is heading to those living in unimaginable conditions. With little access to clean water, fuel shortages, and constant power cuts, something as simple as a bar of soap becomes a vital tool. It helps a family stay free from infection and restores a sense of pride and self-esteem amidst the disruption of war.

🌍A Global Collaboration with Local Roots
This mission wouldn't be possible without our incredible partners:

Soapworks Ltd: Our Glasgow partners who, for 25 years, have backed our shared belief that handsoap should be free-to-access for those affected by conflict.

New Forest for Ukraine: Elaine, Mandy, and their team work tirelessly from the south coast of England. Their passion for high-impact, best-practice aid makes them the perfect fit for the Glasgow Caring City model.

"It’s easy to forget that a war is being waged just on the other side of Europe," says Ross Galbraith. "It’s only a few hours by plane to the Ukrainian border—closer than many of our summer holiday destinations. This isn't about inciting fear; it’s about recognizing that these are our near-neighbours. As fair-minded communities, we must stand by them in their time of crisis."

🆘How You Can Help 🚚
Moving 12 tonnes of product from Glasgow to the South Coast (to the New Forest team) comes with significant logistics costs.

Can you help us cover the transport? If you would like to contribute to the financial costs of moving this soap toward the front line, please drop us a line at:

Together, we can turn a simple bar of soap into a lifeline.

Things haven’t just been busy lately—they’ve been non-stop, and the weekend is only picking up the pace!

At Govan Project Space: there is the opening of Holding Patterns by Sgàire Wood. It’s a fascinating exploration of the ancient art of heraldry, featuring a fantastic display of "shields" created right here in-house. Come down, take a look, and support local talent!

Teen STE(A)M Group is back: Tomorrow marks the final session of "The World Through a Lens." Our teens are putting the finishing touches on their films and diving into the world of online editing.

Artistic Collaborations: On Sunday, we’re hosting a photoshoot for one of our resident artists. We’ve spent the week helping them construct an incredible lunar-themed backdrop for an upcoming exhibition.

Comedy Bound: Also on Sunday, our very own Rach and Lawrence will be filming clips for their submission to a US-based comedy festival. Break a leg, guys!

Then, on Monday, we’re right back to our 100mph workflow. We start the week at 07:30 sharp, processing 130,000 units of SoapAid destined for Ukraine.

🎉 WE’RE GOING TO THE GAMES! 🏅
We are thrilled to announce that Glasgow Caring City has officially secured funding through the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Fund to bring a summer of activity to our community.

This means the Commonwealth Connections: ASN Celebration Festival is a GO for Summer 2026!

We are planning a massive, inclusive celebration to Glasgow specifically designed for our incredible Additional Support Needs (ASN) teenagers.

🎨 What’s coming to our Festival?
* Adapted Sports: Inclusive cycling with trikes and hand cycles, plus sensory-friendly movement sessions.
* Legacy Arts: Our young people will co-design and create a permanent piece of public visual art to mark their Games.
* Cultural Discovery: Accessible learning stations exploring the traditions and stories of Commonwealth nations.

🤝 Built by the Community
This project is co-designed by our ASN teens and their families to ensure every detail—from quiet zones to Makaton-friendly signage—is in place!

With our funds now locked-in, our partners & venues in place we are ready to ensure that ASN Teens are not on the sidelines of this city-wide celebration.

Get ready to celebrate, Glasgow! 🚲✨🎨

Today is and reusing clothing is something Glasgow Caring City truly values.

In fact, it provides us with a valuable income stream through our partnership with Rag Bag Textile Recycling. If you visit any of Glasgow’s Civic Recycling Centres, you’ll find our textile banks ready to receive your unwanted clothing. But it’s not just clothing recycling we’re proud of — we also have a long history of repurposing garments for humanitarian use.

Drop by our warehouse on any Wednesday and you’ll see our team of volunteers sorting donations to help people in crisis both here in the UK and overseas.

Recycling is a big part of our social and fundraising principles, so let’s celebrate Global Recycling Day by thinking twice before throwing away your valuable clothing — instead, get in touch with us via our page or [email protected].
