Today marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in New York City, a tragic day that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people—including hundreds of courageous first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect others.
In the immediate aftermath and the years that followed, Glasgow The Caring City stood alongside our partners at the Port Authority Police Department of New York and New Jersey (PAPD) and the Fire Department of New York (FDNY), providing direct care and support to bereaved families navigating profound loss.
To mark this 25-year milestone, our founder and chairperson, Rev. Neil Galbraith, is speaking at a commemoration service in Inverclyde today. He will also be contributing to Radio Clyde and BBC Radio Scotland at lunchtime and featuring across select media to share his recollections of the effort in the crucial hours, weeks, and years following the tragedy.
