Creative Care at Brackenbrae

What a fabulous start to our winter session. We were invited last week to join 300 delegates as guest tutors at the SWI two day Gathering in Dundee. Ladies from Orkney to Dumfries attended our classes and tackled the Christmas project which involved cutting shaping feathering and embossing. Many remarked just how much 3d decoupage had changed in the last forty- eight years since our 3d teaching began and how relaxing it is to stop the world for awhile to be creative. It was a wonderful adventure which we thoroughly enjoyed.
So we are back to earth now with Monday/Tuesday £5 drop in sessions from 10.30 to 3 at Brackenbrae House in Bishopbriggs. The door is open to those folks who just need a quiet corner to get on with their own craft or try one of ours. All are welcome and the kettle is always on.
Last Saturdays monthly workshop was busy. That’s where we tackle new 3d decoupage projects as well as stitching cards and any other topical craft. It’s great to try something new and get advice from folks who’ve made up special crafting packs with you in mind.
As well as classes workshops residentials and our Thursday One to One group for adults with additional support needs we are preparing for our twice yearly stand at the SEC Christmas Craft Show at the end of October. At this moment our stand is near the Creative Dens - far left - and we are looking forward to once again flying the flag for creative crafting in Bishopbriggs.
The management team has noted these past few weeks how many folks are struggling with health, family or other problems. Maybe it’s an age thing. All I know is when you take that first step out your front door into a warm welcoming creative space like Brackenbrae House the world seems a brighter place.

Here’s some more cheery breaking news -
MR AND MRS CLAUS WILL ONCE AGAIN BE VISITING BRACKENBRAE HOUSE AT OUR VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS EVENT on 28th AND 29th NOVEMBER 2026.
10am to 4pm. £6 per child includes personal time with the famous couple, crafts and a present.

For more information on any of the above please ring - 0141 772 7797 at class times. Looking forward to welcoming you.

A very big THANKYOU to everyone who visited Brackenbrae House in Bishopbriggs last weekend. Our Victorian Christmas event was once more a great success with 193 children and their families attending the two day event.
Adults enjoyed tea/coffee mincepies etc while children crafted before being personally called to meet Mr and Mrs Claus. Children sat on the sleigh and gave Santa their Christmas list while parents took photographs and snowflakes gently fell on the winter scene.

The house itself was looking magnificent in all its Victorian splendour thanks to weeks of hard work by the Creative Care team.
A surprise visit from Council leader Gordon Low, local MSP Rona Mackay and prospective candidate Denis Johnston gave the opportunity to not only show the latest house improvements but also the four foot pictures all made from paper recently on show at the SEC.

Brackenbrae House has open Creative Crafting sessions from 10.30 to 3.00pm every Monday and Tuesday beginning again 5th January. Bring your own craft, knitting, crochet project or let us teach you the papercraft 3d decoupage, stitching cards, parchment or iris folding. No booking is necessary. £5 on the day.
Freshly made soup and filled rolls are available at lunchtime and the kettle is always on.
