Health Literacy Month (October) is about making sure people can find, understand and use trusted health advice - and feel okay to ask questions when they can’t.

Many adults in Scotland find it hard to understand health information, while others are don’t know where to look, struggle using the internet, or simply lack confidence in discussing their healthcare.

People are encouraged to ask and enquire about their health needs and reason for the 'It's Okay to Ask' Campaign

This October, NHSGGC is supporting Health Literacy Month - because understanding your health matters.

Did you know that 1 in 4 adults in Scotland face daily challenges due to low literacy skills? That can make navigating healthcare confusing or overwhelming.

That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to feel confident asking questions about their care. It’s OK to Ask.

Carers Lead, Mark Mulhern is carrying out carers engagement sessions and reaching out to carers locally to meet with and hear from you:

I would like to invite carers to take part in informal meetings to discuss carers support services in East Renfrewshire.

I am interested to hear what is working well; what could be improved and discuss proposed changes in relation to early help and support.

I have organised sessions using various times, locations, and methods in the hope that they will be accessible to as many carers as possible. That said

I would like to keep the numbers in each session to a maximum of 10 people to try and support good conversation.
