Police Remembrance Trust

Police Remembrance Trust Remembering British Police Officers who have lost their lives on & in the line of duty.

The Trust was founded in 2000 after 20 years research into the Roll of Honour, paying tribute to some 5,000 British police officers who have been killed or died, on duty or as a result of duty, since the first recorded death on duty of a Constable in 1545. The Roll includes officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty as a result of criminal acts, enemy action in air raids, misadventure

whilst taking special risks to protect the public or make arrests, accidents whilst on routine patrol or travelling to and from duty, natural causes and unknown causes. It commemorates their sacrifice in the public service and provides a focal point and visible means for family and friends to reflect on the loss of their loved ones and to know that their loss is not forgotten.

On this day, 45 years ago in 1981, Constable Kenneth Acheson of the Royal Ulster Constabulary GC, and 15 years ago in 2011, Constable Ronan Kerr of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, were killed by terrorist car bombs.

We will ensure neither are ever forgotten and that their service and sacrifice for peace, democracy and the rule of law in Northern Ireland is always remembered.

Lest We Forget.

Following the sad news of PC Bradley Corke, Kent Police tragically dying from his injuries we have entered his name within the UK Police Roll of Honour, on behalf of the nation.

Our thoughts are with Bradley’s loved ones, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.

The United Kingdom’s Police Roll of Honour will forever record and remember him. Lest We Forget.

PC Corke joined Kent Police in May 2022 and served in the towns of West Kent, based at Tonbridge. On the evening of Thursday 19 March 2026, PC Corke was responding to an immediate emergency call when the marked Ford Focus police vehicle in which he was travelling was involved in a collision with a V...

As Christmas fast approaches, we reflect on the year that is coming to an end and look with hope and optimism to 2026.

Astronaut James Irwin, one of only twelve people to walk on the moon, described looking back at Earth: “The earth reminded us
of a Christmas Tree ornament hanging in the blackness of space. As we got farther and farther away it diminished in size. Finally, it
shrank to the size of a marble, the most beautiful marble you can imagine. That beautiful warm living object looked so fragile, so
delicate, that if you touched it with a finger it would crumble and fall apart.”

We don’t need space travel to recognise that fragility of our planet. We see it in daily life, in the news of our conflicted world, and
in so many of your own lives. Within policing we encounter human fragility up close as with commitment and dedication you serve
our nations. You know what brokenness looks like, because it turns up on your shift.

For many, it’s a time of year when the loss of a loved one is more profound and the festivities of the season often overwhelming.

May you find peace and comfort in the love and friendship that surrounds you.

All at the Police Remembrance Trust wish you season’s greetings of peace and goodwill.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
