🍂 Autumn Tip: Use Fallen Leaves as Free Mulch! 🍂

With paths full of autumn leaves, why not put them to good use? Simply gather up the leaves and spread them over your flower and vegetable beds. This natural mulch will break down over winter, protecting your soil while adding valuable nutrients.

✨ Benefits include: Clear, tidy paths. Enriched, healthier soil. Safe hibernation spots for pollinators 🐝, helping them return strong in spring

It’s a win-win for our gardens and our pollinator friends! 🥰 Image credits to Off Grid Community Garden, Clarkston

Did you know that leaving pumpkins in woodlands can harm wildlife? While it might seem like a nice treat, rotting pumpkins actually make animals like hedgehogs, foxes, and badgers sick, disrupt woodland ecosystems, and cost conservation teams time and resources. 🦔🌱

Here’s how to dispose of your pumpkins responsibly:

- Compost it or add it to your food waste bin.
- Bury small pieces in your garden to feed worms and bugs safely.

Let’s keep our forests safe and healthy – plan ahead and help spread the word! 🌍💚

It might seem like a treat for wildlife, but leaving carved pumpkins out in woodlands and fields can actually make animals like hedgehogs, foxes, and badgers sick, disrupt woodland ecosystems, and cost conservation teams time and resources 🎃

The The Woodland Trust and RSPB talk about what makes it scarily bad for wildlife:

🦔 Hedgehogs can get seriously sick, suffering from diarrhoea and dehydration.
🌱 Rotting pumpkins spread bacteria, fungi, and viruses, haunting forest soils and disrupting the natural balance.
🐾 Removing dumped pumpkins uses up conservation resources, time, and money – all things that could be better spent treating our precious woodlands.

How to Avoid This Pumpkin Patch Problem:

♻️ Toss your pumpkin in the compost or food waste bin.
🌍 If you want to help animals, bury small pieces in your garden for worms and bugs – they’ll enjoy a feast without risking harm!

This Halloween, let’s make sure our forests are safe from pumpkin mischief. Visit our page for more eco-friendly tips, and share this post to help others avoid these “ghoulish” mistakes. 🎃💚
