Another story to help you understand what you enable us to do…

“I lost my wife. She had cancer. I stopped working in the shop to look after her and now, I’m old too. We were very happy and made a good life in this country. Our daughter and her husband are very kind to me but they have their own life. This food is very important to me. Thank you. It’s a good thing you do here, God bless you.”

People's stories are a good way to help you understand what your donations enable us to do…

“When I came out of care I had to find my own accommodation and try to get a job. That was hard and I didn’t really make it. I’m studying horticulture now and I hope that I’ll get a job as a gardener – that’s what I’d like. Helping look after some big National Trust garden that grows food as well as having parks full of trees and ornamentals. I know it’s a dream, but it keeps me going. Oh, so does the food, by the way, so thanks to the Food Bank for that. I couldn't be studying without the support.”

Huge thanks to Locavore for their weekly donation of fresh fruit, and to our volunteers Frank and Christine for delivering it to us. We had 38 people visiting the foodbank this morning so it was greatly appreciated.

If you could give just one pound a week, it would really help to support the families and individuals in our area who need food. Because we’re a ‘non-referral’ Food Bank all our support comes from you, our donors - the costs are approaching £300 a week.

Some people are very loyal and give generously, and we thank them for it. If we could build a broader base of many more people giving even just a little it would ease the pressure on the people living with food insecurity in our area.

Please give £1 a week (£5 a month / £52 a year) or any amount you can.

At this very busy time of year we've been delighted that so many people have taken time to support the foodbank. We've had some wonderful donations of food and cash from many organisations and individuals from both within our community and further afield. To everyone who has donated, please accept our heartfelt thanks. You make such a difference to the lives of those in need.
The foodbank will be closed on Christmas Day but we will be back open on New Year's Day.
Wishing you all a happy and peaceful Christmas.

We've not been so active recently on this page but our team would like to thank the following people for their support for the foodbank over the last few months. Clydesdale Hockey Club for the very generous donations of food collected by their members. The residents of the Waverley Park area for donations of food and also donations to our bank account. Visitors to Sir John Stirling Maxwell Allotments on Doors Open Day, for filling our collection can. And to our neighbours, Poppins Kindergarten for their generous food donation. We're very grateful for all of your help to keep our foodbank running and enable us to support those in need.

Our Church Foodbank appeal continues with the requests for October being tins of custard, rice pudding or fruit. They can be placed in the crate in the vestibule every weekday morning and Sunday mornings.
A tin may not seem much, but with everyone helping, we can provide help for those who find it difficult to feed themselves and their families
