📢 Final Lightning Talk Announced for the Tenant Participation Summit 2026

We're delighted to announce the final speaker in our Lightning Talks programme.

Joining us on 17 November in Glasgow, Kirsty Sweenie from Bridgewater Housing Association will share insights into the organisation's approach to community development and the role it plays in supporting tenants and communities.

Today's introduction of Awaab's Law in Scotland is an important milestone for tenants' rights and housing standards.

The new requirements strengthen landlords' responsibilities to address issues such as damp and mould, helping to ensure tenants can live in safe, healthy homes.

To support tenants in understanding what the changes mean, TIS has produced a straightforward guide covering:

🌟 Developing a Tenant Participation, Engagement and Scrutiny Strategy
Hear how Glen Oaks Housing Association worked in partnership with its tenant-led Service Improvement Group to develop a new strategy, establish key participation principles and strengthen its approach to engagement and accountability.

🏠 Tenant Scrutiny of Voids and Lettable Standards
Discover how Osprey Housing Association collaborated with tenant representatives to review voids and lettable standards, resulting in practical recommendations that informed policy, improved processes and enhanced the customer experience.

These sessions form part of our Lightning Talks programme, a series of short, engaging talks highlighting how tenants and housing organisations are working together to make a difference.

Congratulations on 10 years of scrutiny! 🎉 TIS is delighted to support the project and celebrate a decade of tenants and staff working together to improve services.

10 Years of Scrutiny!

Last week, the South Lanarkshire Tenants Development Support Project delivered the annual "Scrutiny: Taking Stock" session, where tenants and staff came together to discuss the scrutiny process and explore how we can continue driving positive change across South Lanarkshire.

This year marks 10 years of scrutiny, and the session was a wonderful way to celebrate this significant milestone. It provided an opportunity to reflect on achievements to date while looking ahead to future improvements and opportunities for tenant involvement.

We're ending the day with an interactive workshop led by Pedro Cameron, Tenant Participation and Engagement Manager at TIS.
