SCIO Charity No SC042983 East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action exists to represent and support volunteers, the voluntary sector and social enterprises, to assist volunteers and organisations in coming together for common purposes, and to enable local people to gain access to decision making processes which affect their communities. It will present common policies and concerns of local volunteers, voluntary organisations and social enterprises and develop new ways of responding to need in partnership with other agencies and statutory bodies concerned with social and economic regeneration.

EDVA Sharing Time is just under 2 weeks AWAY!!!!

The Nook offers drop-in mental health support in a safe, stigma-free and non-clinical environment – without the need for an appointment.

Walk-in support hubs where anyone can visit to speak about mental health, The Nooks will provide visitors with access to support for themselves, or people they care about.

Our first Nooks are now open in Glasgow’s Merchant City and in Marischal Square, Aberdeen. Our skilled and compassionate staff are ready to support you, seven days a week.

Mhairi Adamson: Community Engagement Officer will be giving a talk on the fantastic work the NOOK provides by supporting young people (10+), families and adults experiencing mental health problems impacting day-to-day living, as well as to people supporting others, whether that’s friends, family or work colleagues.

We want to showcase the amazing work being done by Pamis East Dunbartonshire in relation conjunction with Learning Disability Week. The week shines a light on the lives, achievements, and experiences of the 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability. The 2026 theme is “Do you see me?”, asking the public to recognise, value, and listen to people with a learning disability.

Time is ticking away for any East Dunbartonshire groups aiming to apply for a Local Community Grant.

The latest funding window closes at midnight on Monday evening (21 September). Organisations can apply for up to £4,000 from the Council fund.

If you're part of a local group with a great idea or involved in a local project which could benefit from a boost then there's no time to lose.

See below (first comment) for a link to the application form as well as guidance, support and eligibility criteria.

The Rotary are having two events in October.
They are running Wrap Up again this year and will be setting up collection boxes in Sainsbury's, Dobbies and Caulders.

They are also having a Community Litter pick in Luggiepark on October 3rd at 10:30. They hope to have a wide group from the Kirkintilloch Community, all are welcome Pickers, bags etc will be available. Come along to help improve your local area.

We are delighted to have hosted two meetings to explore the possibilities of setting up ‘Kirkintilloch in Bloom’ and both have been incredibly positive.
A draft constitution is in place, a committee is coming together and a small amount of funding has been offered.
Milngavie In Bloom is providing advice and encouragement which is much appreciated.

All Minds will soon be launching a Su***de Bereavement Peer Support Group, providing a welcoming and supportive space for anyone who has been impacted by suicidal bereavement.

The group will provide an opportunity to meet with others who have experienced su***de bereavement, share experiences and access peer support in a safe and understanding environment.

Mondays, fortnightly at 7pm
Starting Monday 5th October

Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre

Following disruption to water supply in Kirkintilloch yesterday, Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre is not open to the public this morning (Thursday 3 September). Members of the public will be contacted by services if they were due to attend for appointments and these will be rearranged. Please do not present at the Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre this morning, staff have been diverted to work from other sites. We will keep you updated as to when the centre will reopen.

In addition, Woodhead Medical Practice is not open today due to the water situation and Doctors are working remotely. Patients can phone 07376 561469 whilst the centre remains closed.
