Glasgow Disabled Scouts provides challenge and adventure for girls and boys and young adults aged 6 to 25 with physical disabilities and life limiting conditions.

🏕️ Glengoyne Lodge is now open for bookings

We’re pleased to be opening Glengoyne Lodge at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre to wider group bookings.

The lodge was built and recently redeveloped by the 77th Glasgow (Disabled) Scouts to provide accessible accommodation for disabled young people and adults, including those with additional support needs and more complex care requirements.

The fully accessible ground floor includes accessible bedrooms, toilets, showers, changing facilities, hoist and spacious communal areas. There is also additional accommodation upstairs for carers, support staff and group leaders.

The lodge sleeps up to 21 people and is suitable for Scout groups, schools, charities, ASN groups, community organisations and residential programmes.

Now that summer camp is officially over, and everyone has hopefully had a goodnights sleep, we just wanted to say thank you to all of the volunteers who made the week happen.

Camp takes a lot out of everyone. It is tiring, busy, challenging and full on, but it also gives the young people experiences they will remember for a long time.

I was only at camp for one of the days, but even in that short time it was clear how much care, patience and effort goes into making the week work. Speaking to volunteers and hearing why they do it was a good reminder of how much people give, and how much they get from being part of it too.

We are lucky to have so many people who care enough to give up their time in this way. Seeing that in practice, and seeing what it means for the young people, says more than any thank you post really can.

So, to everyone who helped make Summer Camp happen, thank you.

A very tired camp on the final full day today, but it looks like it was just as much fun as the rest of the week.

The day started with an outing for a swim, followed by a quick lunch back at camp and then plenty of Nerf gun fun in the afternoon.

The evening was rounded off with the camp awards, films, Howler letters and one final full campfire together.

Day 6 was our big Theme Day, and it was packed from start to finish with magic, mystery and adventure.

The day began with a dramatic flagbreak, where Baldemort made his return, disarmed Dumbledore and stole the Elder Wand. With the threat of summer camps being cancelled forever, the young people were given their mission: find and destroy the horcruxes.

The morning started with a busy Diagon Alley Trading Post, where each patrol set up their own shop, bought and sold materials, made magical items and worked together to earn enough galleons to buy the Book of Dark Magic. There were wands, capes, wizard hats, posters, magical inventions and plenty of creative chaos.

Next came Defence Against the Dark Arts, where the patrols competed to collect magical items and challenge each other using Giant, Wizard, Elf. The winning patrol earned the Mallet of Magic, which would be needed later to destroy the horcruxes.

After lunch, the hunt was on. The young people solved riddles, searched across the campsite and tracked down Baldemort’s hidden horcruxes. Each one had to be found, brought back and destroyed using the spell Frango Horcruxum.

The adventure continued with patrols building their own magical flying transport to reach Baldemort’s lair. From there, they had to make their way past dementors, find Nagini and prepare for the final confrontation.

The day ended with Baldemort making his case to the young people before they had to decide who to side with. Naturally, this ended in a lot of water, laughter and a very memorable camp moment.

After dinner, everyone had time to relax with games, music, logbooks and campfire.

A huge day of imagination, teamwork, problem solving and full camp madness in the best possible way.

Day 5 at Summer Camp 2026

Day 5 took us from Hogwarts to Bannockburn, with a day full of history, teamwork and a few battles along the way.

The morning started at camp with a castle siege challenge. After talking about our visit to Bannockburn later in the day, the young people worked in patrols to build their own castles using cardboard boxes. Once the castles were complete, it was time for battle, with patrols using catapults to try and defeat each other’s castles over several rounds.

After lunch, everyone headed off to the Bannockburn Experience, where the young people had the chance to learn more about the famous battle and explore the history behind it. They also had the opportunity to try out armour and swords, visit the Bannockburn memorial and take part in some big games outside.

Back at Nineacres, the afternoon continued with Ross’ Big Fat Quiz of the Halfway Through Camp, which was a great way to reflect on the week so far and bring everyone together for some fun.

After dinner, there was time to relax with board games, music, logbooks for the Daily Prophet and the World Cup match before another evening around the campfire.

Day 4 was another busy one at camp, with a full day of challenges, teamwork and plenty of magic.

The morning began with JLS, where each patrol headed off to their own site and put their Scouting skills to the test. The young people had to build shelters, prepare and organise wood piles, light and maintain fires, show first aid skills, and cook backwoods-style over the fire.

Lunch was eaten at their sites, with patrols also cooking stuffed peppers and chocolate bananas as part of the challenge. It was a brilliant test of practical skills, teamwork, problem solving and resilience.

In the afternoon, camp moved into Potions Class, where the young people had to help restore order to Hogwarts’ stores by brewing a series of magical potions. There was dressing up for Polyjuice Potion, lava lamps for Draught of Living Death, mocktails for Liquid Luck, and a foaming Dragon’s Breath Potion.

The magic continued with Herbology Class, where patrols worked through a series of challenges using their senses. They had to identify smells, tastes, sounds, objects and clues to help grow their very own Baby Mandrakes.

After dinner, everyone enjoyed some chill time with board games, music, logbooks for the Daily Prophet and the World Cup match, before finishing the day together around the campfire.

A full-on day of skills, creativity, teamwork and laughter. Another brilliant day at camp!

Day 3 was all about Fantastic Beasts, and what a packed day it was!

After an early start and breakfast at camp, the young people headed off to The Peak Leisure Centre for a morning swim. It was a great chance to have some fun, burn off some energy and enjoy time together away from the campsite.

From there, it was on to Blair Drummond Safari Park for our very own Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them adventure. The patrols explored the park, spotting animals and working through their bingo cards as they made their way around.

The young people also enjoyed the Birds of Prey display and the Sea Lion show, which were both brilliant highlights of the day.

After a full afternoon at Blair Drummond, everyone headed back to Nineacres for dinner, some chill time, board games, music and logbooks for the Daily Prophet.

The evening finished, as every good camp day should, around the campfire before heading off to bed after a very busy day.
