It's our birthday, Scouts! 🎉 🥳 ✨

119 years since the very first experimental Scout camp pitched up on Brownsea Island, Dorset.

We’re so proud of everything our volunteers have done since then to give young people a place to belong. Thank you to you all! 🙌

It’s a brilliant opportunity to show that Scouting is open to everyone, regardless of gender identity or sexuality, creating a place where everyone can belong and thrive.

We had an amazing time at Subzero this weekend!

Thank you to the brilliant staff at Auchengillan for yet another fantastic camp, and thank you to our leaders for giving up their Valentines weekend to look after our scouts 💜

- Did you know Scouts shake hands with their left hand?

All around the world, Scouts and Guides greet each other with the left-handed handshake. The tradition takes inspiration from the Ashanti warriors of West Africa.

When Lord Robert Baden‑Powell met them, they explained their customary greeting to shake hands with the left hand, you must lower your shield - the very thing that protects you - and extend the hand closest to your heart. ❤️

Scouts and Guides still honour that tradition today. 🌍✨
