We have two stores, our children's shop in Mount Florida and our adult/general homeware shop in Battlefield. Firstly the children’s store
has many strings to it’s bow. We provide free resources such as furniture, prams, clothing, toys etc to families who are in need through registered Community Health and Social Care services. We also provide free play 6 days a week, refreshments, free nappies and free school clothing all year round. For anyone else who would like to visit there is clothing for 0-16yrs, toys, gifts, books and so much more to purchase. This allows the wheel to keep turning providing employment and resources for our community - win win! We have been awarded a National Lottery Grant to implement a sensory space which offers a tranquil timeout area. It may also be used to provide children’s events and activities. We aim to create a space that will be used to encourage whole community inclusion. In the adult store, this means activities, quiet reading with a free refreshment, organised classes, computer access...a proper community space for those of all ages to freely enjoy a blether in a world which is rife with struggles and loneliness. Our staff and volunteers in both shops are so lovely and only want to be as welcoming, supportive and kind as possible to all. We also work with some of the largest colleges to give work experience to additional needs mature students. We support young people in gaining Duke of Edinburgh awards, Solitaire awards and assist in student CV building. We provide back to work training and volunteering roles to increase confidence (often mental health or additional needs motivated). These services are provided through both shops.
