An inspiring 'soft launch' for the Anti-Racism Observatory for Scotland's Strategic Advisory Board yesterday. After many years of planning, Strategic Advisory Board members, Co-CEOs and staff team are in place and ready to lead AROS's work to tackle systemic racism through strengthening evidence and accountability.

We were joined by Kaukab Stewart, Minister for Equalities alongside Scottish Government's Strategic Team for Anti-Racism.

Watch this space for a formal launch of AROS's work later in the year with communities and stakeholders from across Scotland.

CRER is working in partnership with the University of Strathclyde to host the Anti-Racism Observatory for Scotland over its initial start-up period. More information about CRER's role in supporting AROS is available here: https://www.crer.org.uk/anti-racism-observatory-for-scotland

This weekend at the SBMC Policy Weekend, we didnโ€™t just have conversations โ€” we started building direction.

As we began shaping our Action Plan 2026 one thing became clear: we are aligned. We recognize that systemic inequalities are not abstract concepts โ€” they are real barriers that limit opportunity, silence potential, and slow meaningful change. If we want progress, we must address the systems themselves.

Our discussions centered on a powerful idea: aligning structures, policies, and practices so they are fair, inclusive, and designed for everyone to flourish โ€” not just a few. Change is not only about intention; itโ€™s about redesigning the systems that shape outcomes.
There was honesty. There was challenge. There was collaboration. And most importantly, there was shared commitment.
This is what collective leadership looks like: coming together, acknowledging hard truths, and choosing to act with purpose.
The work continues โ€” but this weekend reminded us that when we are on the same page, real transformation becomes possible.

โœŠ๐Ÿพโœจ The Scottish Black Members Committee kicked off Policy Weekend with purpose!
A full day ahead to push for real change, fairness, and justice for all โ€” shaping a strong action plan for 2026 and beyond.
This is about voices being heard, barriers being broken, and policies that truly reflect our communities.
The work starts now. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ
