A huge Congratulations to Elaine Bailey who has been elected to Chair of Cambridge Federation. Elaine is the President of Oakington and Westwick WI and is a member of Wednesday Women WI. Elaine has been a WI member for 13 years and a Federation Trustee for 5 years, the last 2 as Vice Chair.

Many of you may have met Elaine at CFWI events as she is the Catering Co-ordinator and on the Combined Activities Committee. She can usually be seen wearing an apron or cooking in the kitchen! She also loves running the bingo (not always to plan!)or doing a quiz! Elaine is also a WI Advisor and a member of the Craft and Cookery Committee.

Elaine is very excited about her new role is looking forward to meeting many you at events in the coming year.

As the Trustees met last week to vote for a new board, we would just like to say a huge thank you to Sue Smales who has been our chair for the past five years. Sue has decided to step down from the board but has assured us that she is not going anywhere and will still be around!
I'm sure many of you have met Sue at some stage and have been inspired by her enthusiasm and love of the WI. We will certainly miss her energy at our meetings! Thank you for everything you have done Sue!

What a night! Our very first Federation Ceilidh was a huge success. The band were amazing and kept us on our toes all night.

23 February 2026 was the annual Jigsaw Challenge. There were ten teams participating and until the first team finished you could hear a pin drop. The winners were Oakington 1 and they finished the 500-piece jigsaw entitled 'The Museum Shop' in 1 hour and 7 minutes. Hardwick 1 came a close second in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Everyone enjoyed lunch of soup and rolls followed by assorted muffins. Well done to all the teams.
