Our next Gerrards Cross Community Litter Pick is coming up on Monday 14th September, and we'd love to see you there!

Whether you join us regularly or have never taken part before, everyone is welcome, bring a friend, neighbour or the family and get involved!

🧀 All litter-picking equipment will be provided, so simply come along in comfortable shoes and ready to lend a hand.

πŸ“… Monday 14th September @ 1pm
πŸ“ Meeting point: By the Shed, opposite the East Common playground.

Every piece of litter we collect helps make a difference, and it's always great to see our community working together for a cleaner Gerrards Cross.

We hope to see you there! πŸŒΏβ™»οΈ

GXTC has organised the clearing of approx. 600 square meters of holly, which was strangling our woodland and encroaching on the play area. We have made the area more open and safer for children.

A new ten year Woodland Plan has been created. Trees have been inspected, and those that are dead will soon be felled.

We are working across both the Commons and the Camp, aiming to keep the areas beautiful and accessible to all.

We have some cases of OPM (oak processionary moth), which is mainly on the Camp. Warning signs have been put up in an attempt to help residents recognise it. If you think that you see it, please do report it to the Town Clerk @ [email protected]

The Council would like to remind residents that any sort of fires, including BBQs, are illegal on the Commons. If you see such activity, please take photos and report it to a councillor or the Clerk.

πŸŒ’βœ¨ What an incredible Community Solar Eclipse Event! βœ¨πŸŒ’

We were absolutely delighted to see such an amazing turnout for our Community Solar Eclipse Event. It was wonderful to see the Common filled with people of all ages coming together to experience and enjoy such a special moment. πŸ’›

We had 200 pairs of eclipse glasses to give out and, thanks to the incredible number of people who joined us, they were snapped up incredibly quickly (really sorry to those who weren't able to get a pair!)

What was particularly lovely to see was the true community spirit that followed, families, friends, neighbours and even strangers sharing glasses with one another so that as many people as possible could safely enjoy the eclipse. πŸŒžπŸŒ’

There was such a warm and happy atmosphere, and seeing so many different generations gathered together, looking up at the sky and sharing the experience, was really quite special.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a success.

We’d also like to say an extra special thank you for the care and respect everyone showed for our beautiful Common. After such a fantastic turnout, not a single piece of litter was left behind, something we think our whole community should be incredibly proud of. πŸŒΏπŸ’š

This is exactly what community events are all about, bringing people together, sharing memorable experiences, looking after the places we love, and taking a moment to appreciate the extraordinary beauty of the world around us.

Thank you to everyone who was part of it. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! ✨
