Dearest crafters, we hope you've had a lovely year, and if you didn't, we hope next year is better.

I'm back to share some of our clever makers and their creations.

Tess is one of our new board members and kicked off our show and tell with a peg weaving she did yeas ago at Sherwood forest, and a bead woven needle case.

Glennis was next up with her beautiful hand embroiered four seasons blanket, mad with her mum.

Dianne dug through her button stash and made this lovely Christmas tree decoration.

Daiga knitted a fantastic hat with a glow in the dark pattern and upcycled jewelry to give it a goth edge.

She was also wearing her Maja Cardigan, knitted in Icelandic yarn.

AND! She was knitting the most sparkly, most festive jumpers my eyes have ever seen. An absolute joy.

Nadia
Showed us her chaos socks, using leftover sock yarn

Patricia, using a cashmere jumper from Paula, upcycled it to wet felted and needle felted a book cover! She is getting a head star for our 2026 annual guild challenge of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Chris uand felted this beautiful candle holder at Patricia's Felting Without Flooding workshop and has also felted cushion for it to sit upon.

Trudy, another of our three new board members, wove a beautiful white silk scarf and then wove a cushion cover, dyed in weld and then over dyed with indigo.

Claire showed us a festive project I cannot wait to try; a crochet bauble! She has made three so far and they look lovely in variagted yarn and sparkly threads.

Rachel showed us her button Christmas tree, our Christmas activity this year.

And Aurélie shone in her Love Note sweater, posca pen coloured in shoes, and rehomed jeans, complete with appliqué patches, another two examples reducing, reusing and recycling!

Have a lovely Christmas and happy winter holidays to all who celebrate. We'll see you in the new year for our broth-all (soup fuddle) and remember to get destashing, ready for our January table top sale! As our Sarah says, one person's trash is another one's treasure.

Great exhibition of work at our Open Day this afternoon. This year's challenge was to finish a UFO (unfinished object). Some of these are in the photos. Weaving, spinning and dyeing were all well represented - as well as knitting, crochet, felting and other fibre crafts.

Those not at the spinning workshop did various other things including knitting, weaving on various sorts of looms and drop spindle spinning.
We had a 'fuddle' - buffet at lunch time that people brought dishes for.

Happy New Year!

Boy did we have a lovely hectic day for our January Guild meeting. We had a table top sale so we could make way for our new hobbies and gifts and the board members supplied everyone with delicious soups so we'd be energised for the day.

Show and tell was lovely as always and
Aurélie showed us Paul Klee inspired jacket made using Noro yarn knitted in to mitred squares. It's weighty, soft and warm against the hard cold january weather.

Carla showed us her experiment, inspired by a video she found on Instagram, of crocheting over the warp threads of a small loom, creating a vibrant piece.

Kate would like it noted that she absolutely completed her challenge in time for last year but was away at the time of the AGM, beyond her control of a lovely birthday surprise trip away. Be it known! Her Olympic inspired submission is inspired by Olympic Forest, a charitable project for planting trees. The inspiration image is also shown and Kate used recycled jewelry donated by Greté. The beautiful loom was made by Kate's husband, using items from items bought at a hardware shop.

Dianne showed us the beautiful result of weaving with scraps left over from previous projects, and weaving with scraps of ribbon.

Sue's vibrant weaving was done using yarns dyed during a guild dyeing day. Sue proves that you can absolutely weave with handspun yarns on a table loom. This one was made using three shafts.

Patricia created a purse from felt. A clever design that requires one continuous piece whose construction boggles the mind!

Tess made her own drop spindles and supported spindles and is using them to experiment with learning to spin. She did this to decide if she'd enjoy it before purchasing varying spindles. She also has a turkish spindle that was made using a 3D printer! The bowl for her supported spindles was made by her brother who does wood turning and her spindles were made using items such as decorated wooden dish, drawer k***s and beautiful ornate wooden buttons.

Sarah's newest makes were achieved using a supplementary warp 6 point twill, varying the warp twill, making variations within the diamond shape on

Cherise shows a jumper made using fyperspates cumulus and king cole riot, knitted with the diaphanous raglan as a starting point, and for her Olympic annual challenge, she crocheted an art deco sunshine shawl, inspired by the yellow in the olympic rings, the olympic torch and the sunny Greek history of the Olympics.

Nadia displayed a stunning feat of skill and talent! A hand astonishing embroidered quilt that she has worked on for ten years! We were all blown away by the creation.
