Join ornithologist Michael Turner at 10:00am at the lake to learn about the birds we expect to see in the park in the summer. With their young fledged, adult birds are now concentrating on rebuilding their body strength. Migratory species are storing fat for the journey south. At this time of year we can spot younger birds learning life skills from their parents. Our bird walks generally last for two hours and cover different parts of the park. Saturday 13th June – Conversations with Sculptures – 11am -12.30 – Meet us outside the front entrance to the Towers to begin our walk around the park’s contemporary sculptures. Led by Eric Nicholson, we learn about the artist’s interpretation for each of the modern artworks. We also discuss our reactions to each piece and share our opinions with the group. Numbers are restricted to 10 people.

Saturday 16th May - Guided Tree Walk by the Lake Join us for the second in our series of guided tree walks around Saltwell Park. We meet outside the main gates (opposite
the Little Theatre) at 11am for a 90-minute (approximately) guided tour and discussion of some of the park’s native and non-native trees. We will identify different species, learn about their characteristics, discover their benefits to both people and wildlife and find out how they fit into the eco system.
