Garstang Soroptimists Soroptimist International - Women inspiring action, transforming lives. Women working for women and having fun into the bargain. But... we also have fun!

Garstang Soroptimists are an eclectic group of like minded women who gather to help improve the lives of women and girls. We do this through our programme action work, the aim of which is to “Educate”, “Empower” and “Enable”. As a service organisation, our programme action work is practical – we work to raise awareness, we lobby, we publicise issues – but we do also organise some fund raising even

ts. All of these go towards raising the standards of women and girls both in health and education, to help them to take their rightful place in our modern society. We socialise – always willing to try something new, we have guest speakers, we go on trips to theatres and shows and we like to dine out. We are part of an International organisation of kindred women, working together and having fun together for the betterment of others.

Experiencing domestic abuse can feel isolating, and finding support isn’t always easy.

That’s why the UK SAYS NO MORE campaign created Safe Spaces — working with pharmacies, banks, and selected jobcentres across the UK to provide private, secure rooms for anyone experiencing domestic abuse.

Look out for the posters at participating locations. Simply walk in and ask a staff member at the counter to use their Safe Space.

Reach specialist support services

Start your journey to safety and recovery

Safe Spaces offer a discreet and secure way to get help when you need it most.

Stall laid out (on the best day we’ve had for a stall in years!) and we are in a great spot right in the middle of the Makers Market in Garstang. So why not head on down and have a chat about all the wonderful work we do, whilst taking away one or two of our handcrafted beauties. 😁
Doors officially open 11am, we will be here until 4pm.

August 19th is World Humanitarian Day - The theme for World Humanitarian Day 2026 is "Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities".
As Soroptimists in Garstang we work towards strengthening solidarity in support of women and girls, whether through friendship, fund-raising activities, advocacy projects or just sharing a cup of tea and a laugh. All very human really.

Not 'ewe' again! (I'm sorry, I promise to stop making these posts).
Yes, we are back again at Garstang's Makers' Market on Sunday 23rd August from 11am.
Our crafty creatives have been hard at work and there will be the usual array of hand-crafted items and plants for sale. All proceeds go towards our chosen charities for this year - St John's Hospice and The Abaseen Foundation.
What's not to like?

They were the women who made munitions during both World Wars - working with the highly dangerous explosive, TNT which turned their skin yellow.
