The Village Frome

Cardboard, compost, beans and a spell of horizontal rain!

A huge thank you to Charles Dowding No Dig Gardening for joining us at The Village on Sunday, sharing his knowledge so generously.

Charles had already supported the garden with a donation of two tonnes of compost. Having him here to show us how to turn a patch of grass into a vegetable bed, with 50 people gathered to learn and lend a hand, was something special.

Thank you, Charles, for supporting this little corner of Frome and showing us what can begin with cardboard, compost and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

And thank you to everyone who came, helped, planted, watered and stayed through the sideways rain. Our original Peace garden has been built by volunteers over the past year, and Sunday was another part of that shared work.

With support from our £20,000 National Lottery grant, there will be more opportunities to gather, learn and grow together. photos by the talented

Village Boys is here!

We’ve been working on this one for a while, thinking about what boys need as they move through childhood and towards adolescence.

Time with good men. Real responsibility. Practical skills. Adventure and challenge. A place to belong and contribute.

Village boys is a long-term mentoring group for boys aged 8-12, led by Luke and Rob rooted in the land at The Village.

Building, tools, cooking, growing food, exploring, caring for the land and taking on real jobs that matter. Alongside adventures, expeditions and rites of passage as the group grows.

At the heart of it is the chance to build relationships with trusted men over time and experience and witness healthy masculinity.

Not another activity club. Something to grow with.

Thursdays| 10-3| term time
Ages 8-12 | £40 per session

Starting September. Registration of interest are open now on our website.

Village Boys is here!

We’ve been working on this one for a while, thinking about what boys need as they move through childhood and towards adolescence.

- Time with good men.
- Real responsibility.
- Practical skills.
- Adventure and challenge.
- A place to belong and contribute.

Village Boys is a long-term mentoring community for boys aged 8–12, led by Luke and Rob and rooted in the land at The Village.

They’ll build, use tools, cook, grow food, explore, make things, care for the land and take on real jobs that matter.

There will be adventures, expeditions and rites of passage as the group grows.

Underneath all of that is the chance to build relationships with trusted men over time and to experience healthy masculinity through how those men live, work, listen, lead and care for others.

This isn’t intended to be another weekly activity club. It’s something boys can grow with, building relationships, skills and trust over time.

Thursdays | 10–3 | term time
Ages 8–12 | £40 per session

We’re taking registrations of interest now for September.
