Lochaber Supports Refugees We are a group of volunteers in Lochaber collecting aid for people displaced by war and conflict. We are all volunteers

We collect and send aid (mainly clothing and shelter) to refugee camps for people displaced by war.

Further to my post on Friday 14th, the last day for donations to be dropped of is this Thursday 20th between 11 am and 1 pm.
Next week we will be sorting and packing as all boxes will be going up to Inverness for onward transit before the end of March. 🥰

It is with regret that due to a variety of reasons including the current co-ordinator's ill health, lack of a replacement available also changing needs on donations being sent abroad it has been decided to close the charity unit at Fort William as of 27th March.
The Highlands Support Refugees continues it's excellent work at the Hilton unit, Inverness with the support of a loyal band of volunteers.
We thank everyone in Lochaber who have supported us so willingly over the last few years.
The refugee situation has been dire in recent years but it is good to know that with your willing help we have made a little bit of a difference. Thank you so much 🥰

We are currently looking for some new volunteers for the charity, in particular we need someone to take on the admin and responsibilty for the unit as I am stepping down due to ill health.

Our unit (on the High Street between the Foodbank and Tesco) is open every Monday and Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for donations to be dropped off.
In particular we need men's clothing small, medium and large also toiletries - tooth brushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, shower gel, shaving items, brushes, combs, deodorant, face cloths, wet wipes.
In addition we are also currently collecting:-
Children’s clothing
Women’s practical clothing in sizes 8 to 16
Towels
Sleeping bags
Blankets
Nappies
Sanitary wear
Games for older children and adults such as snakes and ladders, cards, dominoes, draughts, chess, ludo, backgammon etc
Stationery – notepads, pens, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners
Rucksacks / Holdalls / Suitcases
Washing powder / liquid, not capsules
