The Village Cafe Rafford

The Village Cafe Rafford The Village Café Rafford first opened in the summer of 2018 and from then on it has gone from strength to strength.

Please read the Additional Information for more details. The main aim of the cafe is to create opportunities for local social interaction and involvement thereby strengthening our community by providing delicious food and drink, including our famous bacon rolls, in a safe and friendly environment. All our food is sourced locally – MacLean’s bakery supplies the rolls, and Murdoch’s provides the bac

on. Our delicious scones, cakes and traybakes are created by the café committee and enthusiastic amateur bakers. The Village Café, like many others, remained closed during the pandemic. Now, however, we are back operating from 10am – noon on the first Saturday every month, using hired facilities at Rafford Village Hall. The Village Cafe Rafford is a separate organisation to the Rafford Village Hall. The Café is listed as a non-profit organisation and your valued business has so far enabled us to provide much needed additional funding for 5 local charities. Please come along, support our venture and enjoy a great community atmosphere (and great food!)

Crawl, hop, slither and jump into creativity!

Join our wonderful workshops to create beasties large and small from willow and tissue paper!

We’ll be building large-scale puppet animals and insects from willow and tissue paper.

Alongside these, you’ll also have the chance to make
your own individual beastie - perfect to
take home or to bring along and carry in Nairn Book and Arts Festival’s Finale Day Parade!

These workshops are open to all ages and abilities
whether you're a seasoned maker or trying something
for the very first time. Families, friends, and individuals alike are warmly welcomed.

Children must be accompanied by a
participating adult, and we encourage grown-ups to get
stuck in too! 1 x adult for every 2 x children please.

Come and be part of a collaborative, creative celebration of
community, craft, and imagination. Help us fill the streets with colour, movement, and magic as we end the festival with a truly unforgettable spectacle.

Fornighty Hall is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Mari ( our wonderful treasurer) has completed our end of financial year report and what a year we’ve had!
We have donated a fantastic £4100 to the various charities we had chosen. The charities that benefited are;
Moray Stroke Folks
Moray Fresh Start
Forres Academy Breakfast Club
Forres Community First Responders
Scottish Air Ambulance
MND Scotland

We are very proud of our wee cafe and all the good it does, not just the charity donations, but the social gathering it has become in our village hall.🥰
A huge thank you to everyone who supports us and to all our lovely volunteers, fantastic bakers and our suppliers (Murdoch Brothers and Maclean’s Highland Bakers).
Look forward to seeing you all on the 4th of April 😍

The charity we are supporting this month is MND Scotland.

Motor neuron disease (MND) is the general name given to a group of illnesses which affect nerves called motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord.

In a healthy person, the motor neurons carry signals from the brain directly to the muscles, but if you’re living with MND, the disease can prevent these signals from reaching your muscles.

Over time, this can lead to muscles becoming weaker and weaker until they stop working. This can affect the way your body works.

MND is a progressive, life-shortening illness, and there is currently no cure for the disease. However, symptoms can be managed to help you live the best quality of life possible and make memories with your loved ones.

MND Scotland’s vision is a world without motor neuron disease. Until that day comes, their aim is to make time count for everyone affected by MND in Scotland.
