So it's the end of an era. We have had to give up our base in Fleetwood, Peter has stepped back.
Anne, John and the rest of the team are keen to stay in Fleetwood to continue to support families living with dementia and Parkinson's, raising awareness and reducing stigma and stereotyping. We have assisted in setting up a Carers Corner at Healthier Fleetwood where our Dementia/Parkinson's savvy crew will carry on with the valuable work we started with Peter. First Friday of each month 11am - 1pm.
We will continue to share our stories, our lived experience and our extensive local knowledge to help those families living with dementia/Parkinson's make better informed decisions and have a first port of call if they are feeling lost, lonely and isolated. A life changing diagnosis knocks people for six and sometimes they just need someone to talk to who has real life experience of what they are going through. Between us we have years of lived experience and can help make sense of the support available, help people understand the jargon used and alleviate some fears and worries giving them the contact details of specialist services that can help them.

Packed little office today, Maxine and Julie from Trinity brought along two lovely ladies we hadn't met before. Robert shared his story and helped others understand how he has lived his life with Parkinson's, I think he impressed and inspired everyone who hadn't met him before! Lovely catch up and sharing info and events. We like to network and support each other to make sure we help as many people as possible. We are building up a 'What's on' and reference library in the office, feel free to call in on a Thursday 11am - 2pm to gather local information.
