BIG SHOUT OUT to those volunteers who spent a day at Morrisons on Elevetham Heath raising funds for the RBL Poppy Appeal. They raised £475. Overall in the Fleet, Church Crookham and Crondall area, a total of £96,000 was raised - up 17% on last year's total at end end of November

OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT, BUT MAKING THINGS HAPPEN - The Group is looking for some helping hands, so I thought I'd share a bit about being a Trustee. Our trustees help behind-the-scenes doing various bits and bobs, like admin, organising, and helping to improve Scouts for all. I know you’re all so busy already, but don’t worry – you won’t need to come to Scouts every week, run a session, or give up all your free time.

If you’re not keen on working directly with young people, that’s OK too. Trustees do lots of things out of the spotlight, and there’s lots you can do from home. SLEIGH WHAT? A CHRISTMAS FAMILY FUN DAY? Absolutely - save the date - Sunday 7th December 2025 from 10.30am - 2pm at the Scout Hut. Our fundraising team are organising fabulous festive fun entertainment, along with refreshments, gingerbread decorating, tombolas and an updated range of free games. DO YOU HAVE ITCHY FEET? ARE YOU FEELING RESTLESS AND WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW? After a refreshing summer break now's the time to continue the fun this Autumn. We have a full range of exciting adult volunteering roles where you can make a difference to all our young people. We currently have people from all walks of life - working, caring, home making or retiring - some commuting and some on shifts; we can make it work for you.

Simply, the more volunteers we have, the easier it is for everyone - keep the group thriving for another fifty years and prevent us from closing or amalgamating sections.

- Help launch a new Squirrel Drey
- Strengthen our keen Beaver Colonies
- Enable our Explorers to thrive
- Look after our premises
- Ensure we have the right kit for every adventure
- Keep us in check so everyone's safe

Our Scout Troop got to meet David Seaman AND earned their Angler Badge as part of their Summer Camp at The Scouts Scouts Takeover Gilwell event this August; in conjunction with GO Outdoors who provided the equipment.

TICK TOCK - BE TICK AWARE THIS SUMMER - Spending time outdoors brings us into contact with animals, birds, snakes and insects such as mosquitoes, midges, wasps, bees and TICKS!
Ticks love long grass and climbing onto juicy skin - feeding on blood for days unnoticed. Wear long trousers. Apply insect repellent, and always check your child for for ticks after any outdoor adventures at Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

WORK CONTINUES ON OUTDOOR SPACE - an amazing team of people enabled us to sort through the garage and clear the site of rubbish and old equipment last weekend. Resources have been moved to make way for new storage and additional safety fencing. The site is looking very smart and long may it continue. Work continues from Thursday 17th April with fencing and other activities... ready for the new term. Can you help? Please email [email protected] if you fancy a spot of gardening or such like. VE80 DAY - DATE FOR DIARY - There will be a day of celebration on 8th May 2025 at Gurkha Square, Fleet. More information to be sent via email to parents and adult volunteers shortly. We're looking for volunteers to help run our games stall from 4pm onwards. Don't forget to join the community for the wreath laying ceremony at 11am to honour the fallen of WW2. WORK RECOMMENCING SOON - Our outdoor space will soon be receiving some urgent TLC. We are having to progress slowly due to the discovery of unexploded ordnance at the rear of the property, and collapsed gullies. The site will be made great again for all our young people; along with new storage facilities and more visually appealing from the outside. Any questions please email [email protected]
