✍️ Fancy having a go at poetry? You might surprise yourself! 🌿📖

Have you ever fancied writing a poem but thought, “I wouldn’t know where to start!”? Or perhaps you simply love words, stories and a little creative inspiration?

Come and join us for a relaxed and friendly Poetry Workshop, facilitated by Sarah from The High Wolds Poetry Festival.

Whether you’ve written poetry for years or have never put pen to paper, you’ll be made very welcome. No experience is necessary — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to have a go! 💚

We recently had a visit from Ali Cooper and Jayne Noble from Nafferton WI. They were busting with boxes and carrier bags full of bras collected by Nafferton and Driffield Afternoon WI’s members. We thank you for supporting us with our Bra Bank collection in aid of Against Breast Cancer.

Bras can be dropped off at Flamborough WI Hall on Mondays 10-3 or at any of our events.

🚢 A virtual trip on the Yorkshire Belle…

Fancy taking a little trip along the Yorkshire coast without even leaving your seat?

Our September meeting takes us on board the Yorkshire Belle with Chrys Mellor, for a virtual journey from Bridlington to Filey.

We’ll discover the sights, history, wildlife and much more along this beautiful stretch of coastline, as Chrys brings the journey to life for us.

👙 WE’VE GOT SUPPORT… AND LOTS OF IT! 👙

Well, our Bra Bank has certainly been busting out at the seams! 😂

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Dorne Barrett from Hedon WI, who recently visited us with a huge collection of bras kindly donated by their members. 💗

And just look at what they brought!

Our collection now stands at over 10kg of bras — that’s hundreds of bras heading off to support Against Breast Cancer and their vital research into secondary breast cancer. 🎀

A massive THANK YOU to the ladies of Hedon WI for their generosity and support. It really is wonderful to see WIs supporting WIs — and this is definitely one occasion where we’re happy to be well supported! 😉

And to everyone else who has donated… please keep them coming!

Today is all about good company, creativity, a cuppa and a good old natter at Flamborough WI Hall. 💚

🧶 Morning Drop-In | 10am–12pm
Bring along your knitting, crochet, sewing, craft or whatever you’re working on — or simply come along for a cuppa and a chat. There’s no pressure to be “crafty”! ☕️

🃏 Canasta | 1pm–3pm
A sociable afternoon of cards, conversation and friendship. And if you’ve never played before, don’t be shy — ask us about joining in!

☕ What are you doing on Monday?

Here’s an idea…

Come and spend a couple of hours with us. 💚

No need to be a brilliant crafter.
No need to know anyone.
No need to have a project to bring.

Just bring yourself!

Our Monday Morning Drop-In runs from 10am–12pm at Flamborough WI Hall. There’ll be knitting, crochet, sewing, crafts and plenty of other things going on — but just as importantly, there’ll be tea, coffee, biscuits, laughter and a good old-fashioned natter. ☕🧶

Then, from 1pm–3pm, the tables turn into a Canasta afternoon — cards, concentration, a little friendly rivalry and lots of chat. 🃏

And if you’ve ever thought “I’d love to come along, but I don’t know anyone…” — that’s exactly why you should come. 😊

Non-members are very welcome — just £1 per session.

🌿 Meet Our Members – Sonia

This week we’re introducing Sonia Oglesby, one of our Flamborough WI members.

Sonia has been a member since September 2018, joining because she wanted to meet people and share in craft activities.

When we asked Sonia what she loves most about being part of Flamborough WI, her answer was simple:

❤️ “The friends I’ve met.”

One of Sonia’s favourite WI memories is the Annual Christmas Party – “a lot of fun!” 🎄

And what would she say to someone thinking about coming along for the first time?

“Be brave, give it a go – new friends are waiting to meet you.”

We also discovered something we didn’t know about Sonia – she’s had two things published! 📚✨

And finally, Sonia wanted people to know that:

“Flamborough WI is welcoming and friendly – it’s not about jam making and baking, anyway I do neither!” 😄

Thank you, Sonia, for being our very first Flamborough WI Member Spotlight. 💚

A huge thank you to every single one of you who has followed our Flamborough WI page, liked a post, shared our events, commented, or simply stopped by to see what we’re up to. 💚

When we started building our page, we wanted to show what Flamborough WI is really about: friendship, community, fun and plenty going on!
