Clan Watson Society Update
October 2025
Hello all, and welcome to the October 2025 Clan Watson Society update!
Kinlochard Community Launches Global Appeal to Secure Local Field for Future Generations
We open this month’s update with a request for help. The community of Kinlochard, nestled in the heart of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, has launched an ambitious crowdfunding campaign to purchase 'The Field', a vital piece of local land. The initiative aims to bring the land into community ownership, ensuring it is preserved and used for the benefit of residents and visitors for generations to come. The Field is an area rich in flora and fauna. It is a haven for wildlife including some of Scotland’s key native species including red squirrels, badgers, beavers, otters, slow worms, bats and adders - not to mention the birds, insects and amphibians.
This project represents a modern-day story of community resilience and land reform. For years, The Field has been an important aspect of village life, but its future is now uncertain. By purchasing it, the community intends to safeguard it forever as a vibrant, open space for recreation, heritage, education and conservation.
The campaign is reaching out to the global Scottish diaspora—the friends, family, and descendants of Scotland—to help preserve this tangible piece of the homeland. This is a unique opportunity for those with Scottish roots to connect with and preserve a living piece of Scottish heritage and help sustain a small Scottish rural community and ensure a stunning part of the Stirlingshire landscape is protected forever.
Your support can make a direct and lasting impact.
