When Penrhys was built in the 1960's it was one of the largest social housing projects carried out in Wales. Built without a basic infrastructure, Penrhys Partnership Trust was established in 1992, to improve the social, economic and environmental outlook for Penrhys and now the wider Rhondda Valleys areas. sic social infrastructure by providing a 'Village Centre' with access to basic services to meet the communities daily needs. The area suffers from high deprivation, basic skills and low levels of achievement. The Charity has a 22 year record of successful delivery of programmes and long standing commitment to empower people to maintain a sense of place, become more resilient and increase their well-being. It achieves this by providing community based projects throughout Rhondda Cynon Taff aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty experienced by individuals. Programmes include projects with young children, young people and adults, ‘hands on’ assistance and on-going support, focus groups, volunteering opportunities, employment orientated skills programme, confidence building and making a positive impact on their lives.
